Is it me, or does there seem to be a general collapse of civility and harmony net-wide on boards that have similar themes/interests to Barbelith?

I admit I'm not that geeky to be able to claim to have indentified a statistical trend - insufficient database - but all the haunts I lurk and post around are plagued with horrors right now.

It's entrophy. All these switchboards are suffering from entrophic web decay. The internet itself feels that there are to many of us and it's reacting by trying to get us to destroy oursleves. The only hope for us all is to switch to a Taoist mentality and go with the flow. Only by peaceful cooperation can we as a switch-boarding species survive.

It's more weird to find a message board where people are consistently civil and nice to one another than to find one where people are constantly acting like assholes or worse.

Their accounts were accidentally deleted or some-such during board alterations (there's something about it in the Policy) and bugs resulted. Thankfully (being grown-ups and all) they didn't start spamming the board with cries of conspiracy, foul play and censorship. I quite like the punkishly antediluvian air it gives them...
