The Filth and Inoculation

Having not had a chance to read the filth yet (so no spoilers please) I found myself curious on a particular point - how would someone innoculated with the Filth perhaps react differently to negative events than someone who has not been exposed to the material?

They'd have more money.
Save yours.

i wouldn't save your money entirely, but seeing as there's only one issue left you might as well wait for the trade. it's definitely worth reading.

as far as the inoculation issue goes: dunno. i think we may need to wait until #13 comes out to get a better picture.

Well, ever since I've gotten into "The Filth" my life has taken a downward spiral (damn: It was going up after being exposed to "The Invisibles" too). But maybe that's supposed to be the effect. Still, I think I'm finally seeing a way out of the chapel perilous.

In fact, my sick/depressed periods seem to peak close to around the time that every new issue comes out. Which is why I'm looking foward to the bloody ending...

Uh oh, I've already been through a sick and depressed period last year (I have horrendous low points of total depression and suicidal thoughts every five years like clockwork dating back to the annus horribilus itself, 1992) I just got out of it (thanks to the Invisibles) I have no desire to go back any time soon. It'll be interesting to know how you feel once you've read the final issue...

Post-enema, I'd hope.

Interestingly, I was depressed just as issues 1-3 came out and I started feeling better around issue 4 and haven't been remotely depressed since. Inoculation at work? Or coincidence? You decide.

I do think reading THE FILTH will have beneficial inocluatory effects down the line, be they subtle or dramatic.

Gee, I haven't detected any difference in my behavior, but my wife seems to fear the weeks in which I buy The Filth. Then again, I didnĀ“t get issue 1...

So some of you get depressed at the release of a comic book or is this just mere coincidence?
I can't say I've ever noticed any correlation between my mood and the release of a comic. Perhaps I have better (or worse?) things to make me unhappy. You guys are lucky.

Invisibles did make me happy... although the last 12 issues felt like I was rushing torwards some heady conclusion but all I felt at the end was empty.

The Filth has no-where near that feeling... I do have the urge to not bother reading the issues until I've got the whole series and then read it all in one go. That usually helps with the understanding/enjoyment.
Or it'll just be a glorious mess.

I kind of like re-reading the whole thing so far as each issue comes out... that way you get an entirely different perspective every month.

I thought it was kind of Invisibles-lite to start with (still enjoyed it) but now it's really got me. Not sure if it's affected my moods... to be honest, I don't think the medication will let it.
