Good thing I never put money on it now, huh?

The half-asleep ZoCher suggests that Princess Margaret might actually have been the Knowledge. It would fit, y'know: spams furiously in the early hours, has a wank, has another stroke and dies...

She was the Oddbins' Princess...

What are they going to do with the 345,000 gallons of gin they have cooling on Mustique right now?

And did you notice on the news how it said the Royal Family were "just finishing their Christmas break..."? In February? What, were they going back to "work" for a week before winding down for the Easter break?

I wonder how they're going to get Princess Margaret's nine-foot tall lizard body into a normal sized coffin for the funeral.

Oh, I expect they'll do some of that crazy transdimensional stuff we all know and love.
(No fair! It's my mate's birthday today- I only got Mary Whitehouse for mine- he's bagged a Royal.)

There was a quote on teletext about this, where one of her friends said something about the way she had always seemed to be adrift - but that she 'came into port before she died.'

Sadly, it was about four barrels of port, but hey ho...

I think it is actually a bit of a shame. I am a staunch anti-Royalist, but I had a bit of time for Princess Madge, because she was at least honest enough to just piss our money up the wall having a good time.

The Queen Mam is poorly again, so we may be able to bag two in one week, then it really would be a Jubilee worth celebrating...

rather off topic, but not me again's comment reminded me of when robert maxwell jumped ship. one of his ex-workers was interviewed on tv and, asked if it could be suicide, said, no, he didn't think so, as maxwell had been in bouyant mood the day before.

Please not the Queen Mum. Minor royals, professional drunks and ex-nazis are fair game and ripe for a thining of the ranks, but I'm unemployed and couch-bound at the moment and I couldn't face what the death of the 'Nation's Gran' would do to the TV schedules. We had nearly a fortnight of mawkish crap when the Knightsbridge Princess ate the dashboard - no films with car crashes, violence or nasty words and I nearly came to blows with my then flatmate. If the one-woman Coutts overdraft pops her superannuated clogs I might have to leave the house and interact with the world and trust me folks, nobody wants that.

we had a toast to PM as we drank gin and smoked this evening.

it would all have been so much more meaningful if we'd been left the keys to her hideaway on Mustique in her will and promised a parasitic life of luxury.

was impressed that Gore Vidal was interviewed as one of "her friends." he is a terrible old snob, tho.

I expect I'm heading the same way with my hedonist habits. fags, booze and gouching.

the light that burns twice as brightly burns half as long, and I have burned so very, very brightly. ha! I'm relying on a statistical quirk to see me thro to gibbering senility.

you milked it for all it was worth, P. Margaret. can't fault you there. and I am really rather pissed, so am feeling sentimental. plus a friend who worked as a waiter at a few gigs you attended told me you were an old sweetie really with your own, personal extra-large gin glass...
