Last minute chance to meet Deva in Melbourne - Monday (or maybe Tuesday)

I am in Melbourne, and have been missing you all dearly due to having v limited internet access for the last six weeks. Those of you who are also in Melbourne would like to see my new tattoo (thanks, rakehell) may do so on Monday night (25th) at the Provincial, Brunswick St, North Fitzroy, at around 9pm. I'll be the younger one in the intergenerational dyke couple (and if there's more than one of those there, I'll be very surprised).

since this is very very short notice (sorry - there was too much time, then I went to Sydney for a week and suddenly there was no time left), if nobody can make it on Monday I can technically do Tuesday instead, but I'd prefer Monday... sorry...

please help me get my barbelith fix in person!

eep! very last minute! forgot about the weekend... that'll teach me to lose track of time. I'll keep checking till Monday afternoon... if no-one's replied by around 4 I'll assume no-one can make it.

deva, you trollop!

monday = very bad for matsya - important meeting determining the future of australian literature.

tuesday, howver, is feasible for me. maybe somewhere closer to where you're staying? tin pot?

the other half of the international couple has my email address if you wanna get me personal.

okay tuesday is doable also - but only latish (does the tin pot stay open late?)

matsya

not sure it does late, but there are other places around the area that are open kind of late. nice groovy bar in northcote (just behind north fitzroy) called Kelvins, which we could try...

you COULD always come to the booklaunch on thursday. it's early - 6pm til 8pm...

hee hee! okay, if we can make it to the booklaunch we'll see you there (am assuming the lovely international intergenerational one has details?): otherwise I'll be back in Melbourne sometime in the next couple of years, I should think - would've been nice to see you all, but I am just too fucking scatty to be allowed out.

yeah. you are. nyah.

the international one indeed has details. i have just sent a narky "if you don't come i'll be cross" email to her, so consider this an official pincer movement.

two hours out of your romance. three tops. have a bash.

all other melbournites welcom too. launch of Cardigan press's second volume of short stories, called NORMAL SERVICE WILL RESUME. I've got a short piece about failed superhero romances in it. last year's sold out in about a week, so you've got basically one chance to get it.

venue: ACCA, the big rusty gallery on Sturt Street in Sth Melbourne
time: 6pm.
launched by magda szubanski, readings plus free wine.

how can you not?

cardigan press's website is http://www.renewal.org.au/cardigan

Damn, that sounds like fun! Unfortunately I won't be hitting Melbourne until mid-late October for a week! So hope you have a great night and good luck with the stories, they sound interesting.

Matsya, will you be around and about in Melbourne when I hit town? I'm thinking of meeting up with various Aussie Barbelites while in the country (visiting friends and folks) so it would be lovely to see you if you were up for a coffee or drink or food or some combination of the above.

yeah, sure, angel. always happy to put the welcome wagon out. i say start up a new thread here and see how many other melbournian barbelites bite. i don't know any of them these days. dread pirate crunchy is in sydney and rosa luxembourg seems to have gone to ground...

I am here, haven't gone to ground except in a kind of winter hibernation-y and serious study kinda way. In fact me and the Girl did manage to meet Deva, had a lovely beer and schnapps and coversation few hours at the Prvincial, at which I also got to meet the 'international one'.

Angel, I'd love to meet up in October. And matsya, would love to catch up.
