Right. i know some of you lot probly hate system and think its kiddy metal but this is n't about whether or not they're good, it's about whether or not they recorded a version of the zelda theme tune. You know: "Link/will save the day/rescue the princess zelda" etc. I have a system cd with that song on it, but i can't convince anyone of it. Look, I'm sure someone here knows I'm right? In fact why not have a general discussion about it! Go on!

I've heard the track, and it defenitely sounds like System, which automatically make stheir coolness skyrocket, IMO. Either way, it's a great track.

I've heard it and it's a good track but to be honest system bore me to tears these days. I used to love Toxicity but now something doesn't feel right about it. Hmmmm. And they sucked at Leeds.

I heard it was Mr Bungle that did that cover version.

I have an MP3 which claims to be NIN doing the Zelda theme song live, as an instrumental. It could have been mislabelled, but it doesn't sound very SOADy.

The mini-bosses (http://www.minibosses.com/) are an NES cover band, and they're incredible. You haven't lived until you've heard their cover of Mega Man 2, or Castlevania.

Pixies did 'Theme from Narc' as a b-side some years back...I think it was on one of the singles from Trompe le Monde.

I seem to remember someone doing the Last Ninja theme. That game had some awesome music.

SOAD's cover doffs its hat and bows long and low to the John Williams cover of the Legend of Zelda theme.

I've heard an orchestral version of Zelda, which is incredible, but was that actually John Williams, or are you just referring to the fact that it's in the style of John Williams?

There's a whole site of remixes of game tunes at OverClocked ReMix.

As far as I'm aware, the orchestral version of the Zelda theme is performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and is conducted by John Williams, but as you suggest, it may only be in the style of John Williams. It's reminiscent of both Williams' Superman theme and the theme from a Western. I've tried to find further information about its origins, but remixes et al are making searches extremely difficult.

Generic also did some pretty fly 8-bit Nintendo covers. For more electronicky stuff, I really like Superpope, who has an MP3.com site. If you can find his take on the theme from Metroid, you are one lucky fucker, because I can't find it anywhere.

It really sounds alot like Mike Patton singing. I would think it's Mr. Bungle or another one of his projects.
