Does anyone know what happened to the Invisible Ink letter columns?

Weird - I was seriously just reading these at that same location not 2 1/2 weeks ago. Someone should ask Jay, maybe?

curious: I was trying to grab the link to the wank-a-thon column for someone who wanted to read more about Chaos Magick and emailed Jay.

he switched servers recently and the archive may have been lost. he'll keep me posted on that.

bad news from Jay:

> dude, they're gone.
> someone's gonna have to find em on google or... i dunno. i just don't have the> time/energy to do it.
> i feel bad about this, letting the people down. shit.
> what can i say, it was an accident.

maybe we can find another archive or the old ones cached on google.

Don't know how long Google keeps 'em cached but somebody should copy them quick like a bunny.

Google's cached copy

Bad news, dudes. I took a look at these and it turns out that only the first letter is actually cached by Google. The other links are dead.

Presumably people only read the first one and then give up, bookmarking the page as something they'll read "later."

Hunh. That'll teach 'em.

I managed to access more than one cached page, so maybe all is not lost. worst case scenario there's always the possibility to scan them and post as pictures somewhere. never downloaded INVISIBLES scans but maybe they're there. I don't know how to brake cbr/cbz/rar files into jpgs.

Shame. Those letter columns were the best part of the book.

The Wayback Machine has that page and its links archived for three different dates. A random sampling of the June 2002 links shows that about half to two-thirds of the links work. Some of the ones that don't work, do on other dates.

Feb. 22, 2001, April 15, 2001, and June 2002.

Hope that works.

All the actual columns are still in the Google cache. So, for example the URL for Vol 2 Issue 7 is

http://216.239.37.104/search?q=cache:http://www.jaybabcock.com/207letter.html

and

Vol 1 Issue 17

http://216.239.37.104/search?q=cache:http://www.jaybabcock.com/117letter.html
