In case anyone missed this, you have now been officially invited to
the UK's first MOB, and the first London MOB. If you did not know a
MOB is an inexplicable gathering of a group of people in a place for
a short period of time.

(1) At some point during the day on Thursday August 7th
synchronise your watch by using the speaking clock or
the following website :-
http://www.britishsummertime.com/ or
http://www.timeticker.com/main.htm

(2) by 6:17pm based on your star sign you should have already located
yourselves in the following bars and/or pubs. Buy a drink, act casual
and don't stare too much at the Fruit machine!

Aries, Libra, Taurus, Scorpio.
Fitzrovia Pub, 18 Goodge St, keep an eye on the Fruit Machine.
(Corner of Goodge St and Whitfield St, W1)

Gemini, Sagittarius, Cancer, Capricorn.
Carpenters Arms, 68 Whitfield St, look out for the Fruit Machine.
(Corner of Howland St and Whitfield St, W1)

Leo, Aquarius, Virgo, Pisces.
Rising Sun, 46 Tottenham Court Road, W1, do we need to tell you
about the Fruit Machine thing by now?
(Corner of Tottenham Court Road and Windmill St)

(3) At about this time a MOB rep will make themselves known, appear
and pass out further instructions. Read the instructions carefully
and then hide the piece of paper about your person so that it can not
be seen.

(4) The instructions will provide the destination of the MOB site,
and you should arrive there no earlier than 6:30pm and no later than
6:30pm. If you are early, stall, if you are late hurry! although no one will need to rush.

(4) The instructions will contain everything you need to know. Most
importantly the time to leave the MOB site by is 6:40pm. The
dispersal is just as important to the success of this MOB as is the
arrival. Everyone should leave as quickly and orderly as they can and
truly disperse.

(5) After the Flash MOB, carry on with your lives as per normal, await
instructions for Flash MOB #2

(6) At all times remember that a MOB is just fun.

Still confused? Surf on to here for some more info and surfing links.

hmmm, went to this because i was in the area anyway... it was a bit posh, and not awfully subversive. Had a horrid feeling at one point it was a publicity stunt for the shop. There were a coupla hundred people present, and as our mission we went into a s*fa sh*p and w*rshipped the s*fas while *mitting the letter 'o' from all speech. There were several tv crews present - i'd be curious to know if it made it onto local news...

Nice to see Wheaty G and co though - sorry i lost you guys in the crowd, it'd have been nice if we could've caught up over a beer or three.

I wanted to go but it was on way too early for me to have made it. Sorry to hear that it wasn't as fun or as spontaneous as it should have been. Hopefully forthcoming mobs will be less interesting to the media and more spontaneous/surprising as a result. Apparently Warren Ellis joined in on yesterday's.

yeah, though I'm starting to feel quite chuffed that our action was described by the Hindustan Times as "lunacy"... it's not everyday i get called lunatic in the Hindustan Times after all, so it's not like it was a total waste of time.

...and the Guardian and The Times, should anyone be interested in reading yet more versions of the same event.
