Help needed with mailing lists.

After three years of regular computer use, I still don't know a damn thing.

I'm setting up a mailing list for the Jenny Everywhere project. Does anyone know how to set one up? Can I just use my hotmail account, or should I go elsewhere? How do I arrange it so that everyone's address isn't splashed over every message. I'd like to keep some of the addresses confidential.

More questions as they come to me.

Thanks in advance!

It depends whether you want the list members to be able to reply to the list or not. If you do, you might be best off going somewhere like Yahoo groups for starters. If you don't, it should be easy to arrange using your Hotmail account providing you have another address to send it to; you can then use blind copying to include the list members without revealing their addresses (I assume Hotmail allows you to bcc - if it doesn't, you mya have a problem with this...).

Cool beans!

Thanks, KCC. I had no idea what "bcc" was for. That'll do.

Yahoo Groups is the easiest way, I reckon - people can subscribe without much problem and it's easy to administrate. You do end up with ads in the mails, though.

There are a couple of free software packages you can run from your own computer but I haven't used any for years and you tend to have to enter each separate email address in before you can start sending stuff out. Yahoo groups is probably easier.
