Members of the public trying to open the door to the library despite the two large signs explaining that we were closed, the leaflets we've been giving out for the last few months saying we were closing last weekend and the fact that for the last month staff were telling everyone they served that we were closing last weekend. What do some people need to take the hint?

In other news, getting a great range of books from the library due to all the stock having to go due to the closing thing. Has anyone else read The Customized Body?

There is already this thread for the giving of the happies. Not that it really matters much.

Today, seeing a picture of Gary Oldman as Sirius for the first time (yes, I know that I'm cross-posting that, but it's not like its the only thing I'm posting, and it is relevant to the thread. And yes, I also know I'm a sad fuck), and getting a lovely little ball of rainbow sheen obsidian to play with made me smile. Also, my sister brought me a cookie back from her outing today, which was very sweet of her.

Actually, I've been in a really good mood all day, despite having a headache. Yay!

Btw - Polythene Harvey has to be the best name to come out of the renaming fad.

Boring as I am, I have to say YET AGAIN (but it's always true)... coming home and my dog being a) OK, and b) really pleased to see me. Always makes me happy.

And... what else?... ahhh yes. The new Jane's Addiction album. Oh yes. Glorious.

This didn't make me happy today, as it happened on Sunday, but there was a large group of men somewhere behind my house singing Gospel songs and old-school Spirituals. Loud. For hours, they sang. It was lovely.

Also on Sundays, a truck with speakers on top drives around the neighbourhood and exhorts everyone to go to church. I can see how this might bother some people, but I think it's the greatest thing ever.

LOL! I just got the image of that truck parked in front of the church right after the service blaring "Its over. Everybody get the fuck out now!"

That idea made me happy.

The news that they're making another Harry Potter film has made me smile. Ganesh's squeal like a penguin thread not only made me smile it made my Dad smile too. Thing is I don't look at that many threads on Barbelith and I'm a bit worried that the one entitled Squeal Like apEnguin was the one I was drawn too, still it worked out for the best. And two of my friends sending me e-mails with them simulating having sex with fruit and vegtables.

Shit, my friends never do that.

A friend came over today and we let all that pent up resentment pour out.

It made quite a mess.

I just got off the phone with my niece, this is how it went:
Me: So birthday girl, you're turning two?
Her: NO!!! (slams the phone down)

After I called back her mother told me she turned and ran screamming to her room. Some women cant accept aging at all.

Finding out that my stepson, who is wee, says my name when he's asked who loves him. Also listening to my husband talk to him on the 'phone and watching his face get all glowy while he's doing it.

Anyone feel like joining my 'I'm too damn young to be a step-parent'club?

Downloading this has made me insanely happy. It's from the MTV Awards for best digital character or something like this, Gollum gets it, Andy Serkis collects the prize, then Gollum turns up, grabs it, and starts swearing at everyone. It's probably one of the best things ever!

For this week anyway.

My sister found out last night that she got a Distinction in her Grade 8 clarinet exam, and she was totally overjoyed. This is very happifying to me.

And more self-interestedly, getting the first series of Red Dwarf on DVD for £12 (even though I can only watch it on the computer, uncomfortably).

Sitting in the park, enjoying the Sunday mini-festival. Totally failing to sell any jewellery but blissing out to the sound of the drums, followed by the consumption of a highly diverting slice of tortilla (Spanish omlette). Heee. That green stuff really wasn't spinach, was it? Hee hee. Heee.

Hee.

I don't have tortilla, but -

having not seen any of it first time around, I recently bought series one of 24 on dvd and have just vegged out in front of 22 hours of it over a few days. Only 2 hours to watch and that'll be done as soon as I get in from work.

I am thinking of making not watching tv a habit, just for the bliss of watching whole series uninterrupted afterwards. Only somebody at work blurted out a crucial dramatic twist from the very end of the series this morning, undermining much of the good work I'd done heretofore in keeping my ears shut.

Marvellous, and Pride too, squeezed in the middle of.
