My plans for when the MAN shuts off my electricity later today.

So I don't get paid until Friday, today is Thursday, and the power company want their money NOW. So here's my plan.

1. Type up some stuff on the computer, listen to some music (morning time)

2. Call my bandmate early afternoon and try to get out of the house when the power is cut.

3. Go to work until about 930pm.

4. Have a bottle of wine and go to 80's night, dance with everyone.

5. Get a late night snack at Village Inn, or IHOP, Dennys, somethin' like that.

6. Get home about 4am and go to sleep immediately ignoring power outage.

7. Wake up friday, go get my check, cash the check, pay the power bill, and then call the company to turn my shit back on.

8. Go to work and when I return I shall have power once more.

You could burst into tears and babble incoherently just to, you know, prove it.

Can you not tell them that you often work from home, or that being able to work on your PC is vital to the work you do, since amenity companies in the UK aren't allowed to cut services which are considered 'vital'.

Years ago as a student in a shared house we had the power company (who should have been paid by the landlord according to our contracts) want to cut us off for non-payment. We appealed to the CAB that - as hard working students with essays to write - our power was vital. The CAB advised us that there was just such a law for this kind of thing, made a call to the power company and they agreed instantly to leave the power on whilst we argued about the bill with the landlord.

Well truth be told, I'm a bit behind and I gave them a certain date I would pay them by and that day has passed. So no big deal, I go without for a day and get it back tommorrow. Wonderful tips though everyone.

Won't they charge for reconnection though?

Not too sure about 80's night but I have to say dancing with everyone sounds like a lot more fun than whatever one might do with home electricity.
