"Asked of his thoughts on Alan Moore’s Promethea, Mr. Morrison said “It’s really well-drawn.”

Bastard.

Heh.

I've heard he actually said more, that he particularly admired the art, even though he didn't agree with the cosmology that Moore was putting forth. So, it wasn't the quick putoff that it seemed to be.

His main gripe about Promethea was that it rendered magic and the world of mystic symbolism in a way that was off-puttingly lofty and obscure - As though the Sephiroths of the Tree of Life were magical amusement parks that you get to visit when you 'get it', when in fact, spheres like Hod and Netzach were as simple as everyday experiences - That in having a conversation you are experiencing Hod, in scoring a goal in a 'football' game, you were experiencing Netzach.

He felt Moore's potrayal of the Kaballah undermined that, kept magic in the dark/inaccessible.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that as much as was left in that article was left out. There was simply no human way for me to keep up with all of the conversation as it went from topic to topic to topic. Mea culpa and all that.

-Matt, who shoulda brought a tape recorder. But then i'd still be transcribing...

I wouldn't sweat it, a helluva lot got talked about in that 90 minute span, and most of the quotes in the Newsarama article are verbatim. Wish I'd brought a tape recorder myself... (I was the large chap with the cane and the 'FAG' shirt who discussed being sick/the Filth with him for awhile (the one who got the 5-second silent-healing-gaze from the crowd which scared the hell out of me for a few moments. )

I can't wait for Vinyamarama w/ Philip Bond...

So, one would hope you felt a little better after that, sir. And a four-hour drive on painkillers? That's dedication. Or insanity. Or both.

Thanks for the props, though. Good luck in dealing with your illness and all that, sir.
