Been reading way too much religous literature as of late and I find myself questioning many things that`have been taken for granted. It all stated with a copy of The Corpus Hermeticum , followed up with the Nag Hammadi Texts, the Hermetica, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, Mandean Gnostic Texts ---etc Along with that, a healthy re-read of the KJV of the Bible.

Why does it feel like we are missing something so very obvious?

As I read these as a combined work, I find myself overwhelmed - I have an understanding of the essence of reality and how it was formed - but it's something that can't be told.

I have several questions though!

For example:

Genesis 4 list the lineage of Cain:
1:Adam
2:Cain
3:Enoch
4:Irad (Jared)
5:Mehujael
6:Methuselah
7:Lamech

Genesis 5 follows the alternate line of Adam:
1:Adam
2:Seth
3:Enos
4:Cainan
5:Mahaleel
6:Jared
7:Enoch
8:Methuselah
9:Lamech
10:Noah

So,here is my boggle.The names are repetitous and altered slightly in position and spelling.We have Enoch as the 3rd son of Cain and the 7th of Seth. Jared and Irad ar the same name as is Methuselah. Lamech moves from 7 to 9 like the month of September---

Is this a Qabalistic thing? 45 is the number of man by Gemetria, odd it is chapter 4 and 5? It reads like a paralell universe!

Could the original line of Cain be symbolic of the 7 sphere tree and the 2nd represents the 10?

Hermeticism speaks of the false reality contained within the egg- shades of Matrix?

The symbolism of Enoch, who became Metatron, who is the Logos, Hermes, Thoth, Mercury - 37,3x7...

Any thoughts or idea what I am talking about?

You could be on to something very wise and profound...
Or, it could be that whoever wote Genesis was a lazy fucker and couldn't think of any more names. My bet is on the latter, simply because that's what I've assumed for years.

See, that is the problem. Instead of entertaining the idea, exploring the enigma, people will usually say "They all had the same names then..." but this is false! The names of each of the patriarchs is filled with meaning. Noah means "respite", Enoch is "Initiate", Jared I believe means descent. Take a look at the begats - there are several names without repetition.

I guess that's the point of this thread - because we believe things to be so, doesn't mean they are - The world is a mystery.

No - I feel that there is something very deliberate about these two lineages.

I'm interested in hearing thoughts on "The Immortal" as well as Genesis, Egyptology,Hermeticism,Gnosticism,Qabalism ... there really is more to this.

Entirely possible, Sobek. Wouldn't have exactly been that uncommon at the time...

Though the idea of the meanings of the names I find interesting. Do you have a reference that lists what all the names in these linages mean in direct translation? It would not suprise me in the least to see the sephera formulated out of this list. I mean, one of the founding points in Jewish Quaballa is that the Torah is a big code that includes all mystical knowledge, afterall. But you'd probably have to ask a Rabbi about it for the best answer, if they'll talk to you

»Upon reviewing the information posted above and the reference material, I find myself agreeing with +sent[!]ence+ - though I must confess, on an instictual level. This idea has branched off into several areas of study - an instigation for which I am grateful.

The Hermetatron

The most overlooked point when it comes to the book of the dead is the identity of the writer. The "author" of the papyrus constantly is translated as "ANI" - scribe of Osiris. This translation is eronous to put it mildly.

The translation of the word ANI equates to "I,myself". Therefore, when it is written "ANI - OSIRIS" it means " I, Osiris" - which later leads to the understanding of "I, the word of God" or "I, the center of speech"

With the addition of the Hebrew concept of the METATRON (beyond the throne) - The word of God personified - the direct link between man and God. The word ANI itself means "Nothing" - The first of three layers in Kabbalism, AIN, AIN SOPH and AIN SOPH AUR.

The idea that THOTH himself wrote the BOOK OF THE DEAD expands the OSIRIS identity. Perhaps the most overlooked concept is perhaps Thoth is Osiris.

Enoch does mean initiate - as well as Anuk - Hanokh a word sometime translated to that of a certain mythical bird whisc would burn itself upon the pyre (pyre/pi-ra-mids) and be reborn anew every 500 years. Egypt,of course, is the city that Cain built and named after his son following his exile.

Enoch is chosen and taken underGod's wing - so to speak.He becomes knowledgable on all things. He records them in over 360 books. He instructs METHUSELAH on what to do with the source codes for the entire universe which he has concealed in the twin obilesks. Enoch had seen the vision of the future - nucleur holocust described in the final paraghraphs of the psuedogriphical (re: fictionsuit) second book of Enoch ( i'll save the time and not reprint for the moment - should need be I will submit the actual text).

Some points to ponder on - I don't wish to take up TIME.

A) The word METATRON and META THERION are the clues which you seek. The exchange of He&I in the wyrds.

B)666 is the number of the METATheRiON. Enoch is 'transfigured' on the 6th day ov Tsivan =June 6th. (cue spooky music)

C) 36 -(1+2+3+4+5...+36)=666 The number of the beast.

D) 6x6x6= 216 Hello? Anyone see PI or read 777? Two Towers??
