Comic club?

The comics discussion club has kind of fallen fallow on the board of late, and after such a promising start with Batman year one - Flux had suggested continuing with Dan Clowes' Characture, but that seems to have garnered little support.

So in an attempt to revive this irregular feature and in a blatent attempt to try and get people to read what I think may prove to be the best graphic novel of the year I propose that the next comic club be on Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis - a riviting and engaging autobiographical of the author's childhood growing up in Iran at the time of the Islamic revoilution.

It has been published in the UK through Jonathan Cape (the graphic novels division of Random house) and should be easily available in books shops and the better comic shops alike.

So what do people think - good idea? bad idea? want to read something else? let me know!

I'm not particularly interested in reading that book. So I'm not up for it.

Wouldn't some of the point be to get people to read books they wouldn't normally read, though?

I'd jump in, but I'm tying all my disposable income into the trip to the Toronto comic convention and Jenny expenditures. Sleaze, if you're having trouble starting it up, you may want to even start with a core group of people who have money to burn, and every one else can join in when they can.

Lets do Ennis' Punisher instead. I'm sure everyone already has that. Right?

Right. I'll look for Persepolis next time I'm out and about.
