Repect Festival

Free festival at the Dome in Greenwich on Saturday 19th July. I went last year to the one in Victoria park and it was very good. This year's headliners are Public Enemy.

Who ever heard of a public enema?

i've seen public enemas at a number of bdsm/fetish parties, not so strange.

And that's probably the kind of event people will think this thread is about unless you moderate the title to be a little more helpful.

Flyboy, by reading the topic abstract underneath the thread before I entered it, I worked out that the thread's title was a pun on the name of the Band. I suspect that I have also heard that usage to refer to the Band, so perhaps the people who will want to attend this will be able to work it out for themselves.

Unless people are finding this offensive, I don't see a problem with the title. There are thread titles in the Conversation at the moment that I find much more confusing/off putting than this one.

Opinions anyone??

Jub, I'd love to come along to this as I have never seen Public Enemy live, but unfortunately I am Best Woman, Matron of Honour/Bridesmaid (delete as you feel appropriate!) for a very wonderful woman on Saturday so I'll be busy all day. But have a good one and let us know how it all went. I'm determined to make it to this festival one year!

Ahh; you beat me to it.

I wouldn't have called the thread that if it weren't for the abstract, but since it is there *for that reason* I don't see the problem.

The quote "who ever heard of a public enema?" is from the film House Party which I thought Hip Hop fans might know. Doesn't really matter, and I don't really care if people don't read the thread because they think it's 'that kind of event'. I thought putting an in joke (albeit a bad one) about Hip Hop would be slightly more helpful that spelling out everything. Mmmm'kay?

(Good luck at the wedding angel!)

oh, and to clarify- I actually looked at this thread because I thought Ken Campbell may be repeating his notorious "gastromancy" show from last year's UnConvention.

I'm going to the same wedding as Angel, so that counts me out as well. I would have gone, though.

Jub, do you realise just how close to disaster we came with the title of this thread? Do you? DO YOU?

Quite good. Not very. It was the first time I'd ever been to the Dome, and everything anyone has ever said about it being a huge waste of money is completely justified. What should have been a good chilled out festival in a park on a hot sunny day was tainted with that monstrosity. Not having grass anywhere nearby, meant people were sitting on the concrete around the place. The acoustics in the dome were not condusive to having 3 stages as well as a fun fair.

That said, it was alright, but they should definitely take it back to Victoria park next year.
