Buffy videos fuck-up? (Some spoilers)

K. So I bought the 7.1 box set yesterday and have had a bit of a pig out on it. Just finished watching Bring On The Night and sped the credits up to get to the next ep, last on the videos, Showtime. Start watching the 'Previously' blurb and suddenly realise that it's including stuff that's not yet happened in the episodes - a new potential arrives, Xander says "That's not Eve". FFWD to the start of the episode proper in case it's just the blurb that's out of place, and sure enough Spike's magically free from the First's clutches.

Very pissed off. This is the first season I've managed to get to without someone spoiling it for me, only to find that the vids do that instead. So, is it just mine that's iffy, a first pressing style cock-up, or is it a probelm across the board?

Spoiler-free answers, please.

Scrub it. It *is* a fuck-up and it *is* common to all the box sets.

So consider this a warning not to bother with them. I guess there's no equivalent of a proof-reader for video releases...

So are the episodes out of order, or are they missing one altogether?

Showtime (ep 11) is missing entirely, replaced by Potential (ep 12). Confusingly, the episode's title is given as Showtime on the screen just before it starts. It's the very last episode on the last video in the set.

There seems to have been confusion about exactly how many episodes would be included in this set. Amazon include a run-down of Potential in the item description, but leave it out of the synopsis at the end.

Grr arg doesn't even begin to describe it...

Grrr arse?

Yeah, saw a friend of mine yesterday who was well-fucked-off about the whole thing. Not sure if it's just a cock-up, or if there're copyright issues or something with the episode. Either way, they probably no longer care- it's near the end, they may as well just grab the money.

Someone on a Buffy message board mentioned something about a freepost address that you can send the offending video to in order to get a replacement. Annoyingly, they didn't actually post the address and I returned mine before hearing about it, but if your friend asks at the shop ze bought it from they should be able to tell hir - those that haven't sold have apparently been recalled.

(A few minutes after posting this I got a phone call from MVC, asking me to return the videos as they *have* been recalled, so it looks like they'll definitely have the fixed set in a couple of weeks or so.)

Cheers, E Randy... just called him to tell him. He's figuring on keeping his crap edition in case it's worth something one day (?!- hey, there're completists everywhere- not sure if fucked VCR collections are quite the same as mispressed vinyl in the collector stakes) and buying another once they get them all replaced.

I think I'll wait a while before buying one.

Fuuuuck.

Anyone got a link to that freepost address?

It's given on the BBC Buffy boards as:

Buffy 7.1 - VHS TCFHE FREEPOST 37LON20304 London W1E 3HG

Yesterday I had the box set in my hand but couldn't buy it because I knew it would be fucked and I'd only have to return it. Grr arse indeed. I hope someone got fired for this travesty.
