If you get so obsessed with forgetting the intent, it's going to be counterproductive. However, if you stop focusing on wanting the intent to work, your conscious mind will get out of the way and let magic do its thing.
At several times in my life I've been lonely and wanted a partner, and while I didn't actually enchant for one the strength of my desire (and the erotic nature of it) was sufficiently magical to have effect. It only did, however, once I had decided:
in the first case, that I would find someone when I was ready and not before, and just to be satisfied with that
in the last case, that I was actually in a really bad place to be in a relationship, and that having a partner would hold me back in numerous ways.
As you can guess, in the latter case, the relationship that followed didn't last long.
So I'd second Jack's statement-- not only ignore the rule, but ignore the intent. Once you've done what you're going to do, leave it alone. Relax. Think about other things that hold your attention. Go to the beach, the movies, what not. But on a subconscious level, recognize the opportunities connected with your work. Buy the lottery ticket as if on impulse. Furthermore, if you've enchanted for money, pay attention-- if a flyer for a contest with cash prizes catches your eye, there might be some point to entering. |
