The New Spiderman Cartoon on MTV

Anyone seen it? Any thoughts? Probably have the longevity of any other MTV cartoon that wasn't Beavis and Butthead?

It seems to take a similar jumping off point as the movie, and from what I've seen, the writing isn't awful. Dougie Howser does the voice of Spidey/Peter Parker. The computer animation they're using is no great shakes- there's no shading, and while this may be a stylistic choice, there's little things- the way this one kid holds a book, no one holds a book that way, he was holding it like a tray of tiny pastries, and another one with a martini glass, which he was holding like a beer can. All surfaces are completely texture free, and so far I think it's everything I hate about computer animation in one neat little package.

Did anyone else see it? Or is this one to ignore until it goes away?

One of my favorite computer cheats was when Steve Sanders (oop! Harry Osborne) drinks his coffee and it just hovers in front of his face because they clearly didn't have the time or tech to have his lips interact with the cup.

I thought it was really well done for a comic book based cartoon, and I liked the style, especially MJ's design. I'll probably keep watching, if only to catch some great Real World-style music cues.

Spider-Man hurls Doc Oc through a window: "Fight Test" by The Flaming Lips.

Etc.

I watched the first two episodes this evening--it seemed to have its own style and I enjoyed them....

...still, I don't think I'll watch any more episodes due to the overwhelming amount of commercials. If it ends up a great series they'll release it on DVD eventually. I'd rather take that gamble than watch another ad on MTV.

I liked it well enough, but I don't see why it was an MTV cartoon and not a FOX or some other channel cartoon where it would get some decent promotion and not be almost 1/3rd commercials.
