I know this is perhaps a little early, but is anyone going to be there?

Here, I should say.

Apart from Cameron and his goofy but charming studio-mate, Chip, that is?

And can anyone put me up for that weekend? It's not even that I want to go to the con all that greatly, so much as I'm going to that neck of the woods (well, Milkwaukee) and I'd like to visit Toronto again if I can. Since the flight probably won't cost me too much extra, it seems like a good way to catch up with people -- I can afford it if I don't have to fork out for accommodation and it would be most excellent to catch up with y'all (it's been faaaar too long already!) :]

I was straddling the fence on it, since most of my pals from Niagara have moved away and I have no one to go with. But if you're going to be there, Kooky, I'll be down for sure.

Wish i could help with a place to crash, but I'm looking for one myself. I'm tempted to sleep in the streets. Whatever you do, don't try to sleepover at Anime All Night. It's not actually "all night", as my brothers and I found out last year.

Let me offer you both a lovely futon and couch on which to crash.

I'll probably skip the convention, but I'll be up for any Barbelith fun...

Really? AWESOME. You = \m/

Now I need to figure out the proper dates. And I still have to find out if my mum wants me around for her birthday or not, since I am pissing off for a few months...

I'll be emailing you with more deets on Monday, most probably, if not sooner. Cool?

Hey hey! Thanks to Kooky for the heads-up on this thread. I might be persuaded to check out the con, and would definitely love to see y'all!

Living room is available to anyone who needs crash space, although be warned that my couch is a bit on the smallish side.

Still planning all this around some other people and places, but it looks like I'm going to be in town from about the 20-26th, I think.

Fucknuts.

Because of stupidstupidSTUPID! immigration, this is not going to work out. Apparently spending a week in Canada outside the United States counts as part of my 90 day visa waiver. And I really really can't afford to add it right now and take away time in the US. I am soooo annoyed about that.

What I plan to do is see if I can book a cheaper trip to Toronto later in the year, when I can have the time to look online for flights from Milwaukee. I'm sorry if this scuppers anyone's plans, I'm pretty disappointed by it myself.

Well, I'm still hoping to go to the con, and I'm always up for a beer, and usually for dancing. Not a big deal, since I'm always in this city, but I thought I'd move this thread up a couple notches.

Boo to immigration! I had a roll of shiney new quarters for you!

There were a few obstacles in place that were keeping me from attending, but I seem to have taken care of them. I'm 90% sure I'm going to be attending, especially if I get these Jenny zines done. I'll be there Friday. I might need a piece of floor for Friday and Saturday, Baz, though I have a friend who I might visit on one of those nights. I'll keep you posted.

Keep those quarters nice and shiny for me, daddio. I'm coming to get them.

Eventually.

OK, it looks like I'll be hitting Hogtown Friday afternoon or evening. I plan on postering Jenny pamphlets and dropping off copies of the zine at various stores. Other then that, I'm up for anything on Friday night, including sleep or Anime All Night and Anime Kareoke. Saturday is comic day, after which there will be more postering and more dropping off of zines. Blow Up at Lee's Palace is a given. It is entirely possible that I may meet up with comic/zine related folk on any given day, though, on the other hand, I may not. Sunday afternoon I return home.

Despite this seemingly busy schedule, I want to see some of the gang. Is a meet going to happen? If so, where and when? Food, dancing, both? C'mon, let's rock!

Baz, can I still sleep on your floor? Which night is good for you?

I don't think I'm going to make Toronto at all. Not this time around, not from Milwaukee, not if I want to be able to get back to the USA again.

I had to run the immigration gauntlet at O'Hare on Saturday. After a two-hour wait in line just to get to the passport control counter, I had to wait in the immigration offices for an interview and then I had to try and track down my luggage. It took me almost four hours just to get out of the airport. Thank god I told the officer interviewing me that I had a friend waiting for me who was probably worrying where I was when I was still waiting in the line to get to the passport control counter, and thank god the officer decided to pop outside and interview her briefly because he came straight back to let me through. But I don't want to go through that again. Even though I'd been expecting it this time -- and had brought a long a copy of my most recent bank statement to prove that I could afford to stay here for the 90 days and then some, because I was told last time I went through this whole rigmarole (which some of you may remember) that I should have no trouble getting through if I showed the immigration officer some proof that I could afford to stay here for three months without looking for work.

They really don't like that I like to visit America a lot out of choice. It raises suspicions about my character. I can't help it if I have a lot of friends here, can I?

Sigh.

Maybe if I have some money left over I'll visit Toronto and Montreal over Christmas or something.

A meet for sure! Any or both nights are good for me. How about the rest of you?

Mi piso es su piso.. My floor is your floor. Either or both nights...

...anime kareoke? Explain...

Betty. WOO!

OK, Victory Cafe it is. If anyone else feels like attending, but cannot make that particular place and time, speak now or forever hold your peace.

I have no idea what I'll be wearing, but I look like a sandy-haired Bruce Wayne and will most likely be reading comics.

Woo Who?

Does she still post here? Shame about Anna. Cursed 54-40. Although, Anna, if you Really Want to attend, I was in Niagra Falls last week and spied some excellent spots to sneak across the border via water. You don't have an aversion to climbing into a barrel, do you?

In any case, you'll find me at the Vic. 9pm? probably a table at the back then (but Im hoping for the patio).

it might be a complete shot in the dark, but I thought rhymes with tracey = Betty Woo. Apologies if I'm mistaken.

Helmschmied, when's good for you? Are you available at all that weekend? Maybe some of us can meet for pizza, and start the Great Toronto Pizza War we've all been dreaming about.

MMmmm, pizza wars.

Once upon a time, I was Betty Woo Lou Hoo (who?). Then I sacrificed myself to a midtone elder god and had to come up with a new screen name.

The annoying thing is that one of my plans was to visit Niagara and then bus down through upstate New York to Boston or NYC...

I never got to Niagara last time because of the blizzard. Dammit.

And to add to my extreme pissed-offedness about the whole thing, I found out the other day that a friend of mine who wasn't going to be at the con now is going to be at the con. Gah.

Instead, this weekend I'm going to visit the farm my friend grew up on and try to occupy myself while she helps slaughter the livestock. And then we're going to a wedding. As y'do.

Well, I have to teach a class in Waterloo early Sunday morning, so Saturday is definately out. I guess I'll have to wait until next time. Have a pint for me (although realistically you should have 8-10).

Was that Cameron Stewart I saw by the elevators at the Comicon? He looked very familiar. What was the title he was signing?

Pardon my ignorance.
