Well a while ago I posted a notice telling everyone that there would be a novelty spike on july 8, and to watch out for anything weird, the only thing I noticed were several strange murder suicides...
and presedent Bush is now under considerable pressure for an absence of WMDs...

Well, I can't speak for the rest of the world, but for me Tuesday was very eventful in regards to increasing novelty.

Recieved immediate positive response in my search for someone to assist me in an initiatory bondage ritual that has been formulating in my head, as well as commentary from the individual who helped inspire it.

Recieved the invitation that I've been hoping for to visit one or two of the local pagan gathering/circles that a good friend of mine frequents.

And saw the funniest moment yet in my entertainment trek through Joss' Buffyverse (and it was in Angel, not Buffy!)

Okay, that last one was fluffy, but it still knocked me out of my chair. I think that's pretty novel.

I guess a 'novelty spike' just means 'a spike of new and odd things happening in your life'?

But something very strange did happen to me yesterday, July 9th -- I ended up in the subway sitting across from a girl from my hometown who I'd had a crush on for years, who was in my life on a regular basis in two separate periods of my life, but who I never really knew all that well. She honestly didn't look so great but once I saw her I was focused on 'is that really her or am I just thinking it looks like her and it's someone else?' So right before I got off the subway, I asked her if she was from [nameofmyhometownonLongIsland]. She looked up quizzically and said yes, and I said "Okay, just checking" and walked off the subway.

I felt like that happened for a reason. I spent some of the night reflecting on why that happened, and why it happened now. Came up with some pretty good ideas about it.

I've also had a lot of 'book synchronicity' - i.e. I see a lot of people on the subway reading the same book (and no, it's not Harry Potter).

This is in the last few days - and I hadn't had much synchro. happening in weeks before this. I feel like a new wave of good things and synchronicities is just starting up for me in the past 2 days.

don't lose faith. causality is often hard to see. there might very well have been some sort of novelty spike which we haven't seen the full effects of yet.

sorry hunter, yes novelty is the tendancy toward more interconnectedness, and habit is the tendancy not to complexify interconnectedness, these two values increase and decrease according to a function which is calculated by this program McKenna had some software co. write, when habit reaches zero, novelty will supposedly reach infinity and will all be enlightened in an explosive metaorgasm or some such stuff, but you got the gist anyway, so this is just FYI,

On Tuesday I slipped out of work early and headed home for what turned out to be an epic bike ride with a buddy. We took a trail up the coast along the farmland north of here - a nice cruise on the bluffs over the sea. Saw groups of seals swimming westward to the sun. Absolutley beautiful day. We powered up about a thousand feet or so into the woods, caught 3 snakes (2 gopher and 1 red garter), stopping occasionally to pack another bowl. Then a magickal single-track down into this amazing canyon, up and out then down to the ridge for a view of the entire bay. Glorious! Then back to the coast in time for sunset. A beautiful day.

Oh, and re:Timewave Zero & McKenna... Note that when he ran Timewave open-ended, the novelty curve smashed into the origin and stopped at Dec 21, 2012.

Well, on the 8th a big storm hapened that went on for some 30 odd hours. At the height of the storm on the 9th, around 7pm I was contacted by Zeus, god of thunder, my first godspeaking activity in over a month. I suppose it was novel, but I'm not sure.

I did one before the 8th, it came up 23, 23's started creeping up all over, the 8th was when my second summer semester started, and my US Gov class' numeric label was 2305, as of writing this my clock says 7:23, so I wasn't surprised about the murder suicides, just a little sad for my fellow men, some experianced first hand "comming apart".

Well, 7/11 doesn't have any numerological significance, does it? Beyond the chain of convenience stores? Or is it that the two numbers individually have magickal significance?

Last night (which would be day 4 of my string of synchronicity) I heard a song at a party at a bar which you rarely hear played on the radio or anywhere, the mid-90's hit song "She's So High {Above Me)" (don't know what group does it or if that's even the name of the song). First off, I'm always happy to hear this song cause I love it, don't know who does it, and you rarely hear it. Secondly, the final lyric of the chorus lists Aphrodite, who I've been trying to contact through some magickal efforts lately ("Cleopatra, Joan of Arc or Aphrodite..."). And I thought to myself, "Ah." Especially when you consider how few rock songs use the name "Aphrodite" in their lyrics.

Also, another person on the subway turned up reading the same book I keep seeing people reading ("The Alienist"). A few months ago I went through a long period (several months) of seeing everyone reading Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand everywhere I went. So clearly I'm meant to read these books, just haven't gotten around to 'em yet.

Thus continues my string of synch/novelty. I sense more is coming.

From Monday thru Wednesday, I kept seeing the number 7 everywhere I went. The most powerful manifestation was on the license plate of a red Porsche - W77& my initials. And of course, W is the 23rd letter of the alphabet. I haven't checked the correspondences (in "777"!) for 7, but I was getting the feeling there that something was trying to tell me something. The 7's have tapered off now. Hope it's not too late.

This is my summer before my last year at college and so I've been spending a lot of time simply hanging out with my friends. At one point I was seeking a new job and got called in for temp work--for two days. They apparently stopped needing me after the second. A friend and I were driving around discussing how odd it was that in the past couple of days things had been very different--I'd had two jobs for a short time, we hadn't heard from another friend of ours at all--something out of the ordinary--and other minor things. I jokingly said "Something weird has happened these past few days..." thinking of course of Novelty increasing. Getting on this board and seeing this post whose July 8th date coincided with day 2 of the novelty my friend and I had noticed just seemed like a confirmation.

Since then plenty of other novel things have been happening in my life. Nothing major but it does seem like old routines have been replaced by new ones / nonroutine.
