Uncanny X-Men #427

Having read the usually lenient X-Fan threads on this, common consensus seems to be that this is one of the worst issues of Uncanny ever. Lots of unhappy little fanboys saying that they're dropping Uncanny if Austin's big Nightcrawler arc isn't perfect (and it sounds horrible). Seems that this one is the straw that broke the fanboy's back.

Is there anything that can be done for Uncanny? or should it be taken out back and shot?

I have to say, the last two issues of this title were two of the worst things I've ever skim read in a shop. Alex Summers is going to marry Lorna, but then he realises he loves his creepy stalker nurse Annie, because her mutant son has been arranging telepathic/dream meetings for them while he was in a coma? (WTF?) Lorna goes utterly ten-bears pyscho whilst wearing a wedding dress ripped open to reveal a Magneto costume, with helmet. (WTF?) Annie accuses Iceman of being a racist and a homophobe in a conversation that reveals that either she's now crazy and stupid, or he's now bigotted and stupid, but Chuck Austen is definitely deeply, deeply stupid.

Eh, I feel sorry for Austin. He's a shitty writer but he's been coping a ton of personal shit on X-Fan which isn't really due to him. Not that it stops him being the comic book David Gonterman, but still.

Gee, even I thought it was bad... it is to... PINK.
You want to fix Uncanny X Men? Geez, find a good writer. Soemtimes I feel that Nicieza or Lobdell would be better than Austen or Casey.

You know, if that Felicity person is correct about Bill Jemas long term plans for Marvel, I think that Uncanny X-Men might be a testing ground to see how many people are willing to pick up a flagship title created by a bunch of low-rent no-name creators and is published on an accelerated nearly bi-weekly schedule, as compared to the sales of the other two main X-titles which are helmed by big name writers and artists. It seems like the comic is being created by scabs, doesn't it? I think that more or less, that's exactly what they are.

Does anyone have the sales figures for the X-line?

Girl in the radiator- complete threadrot here, and should probably form another thread to discuss this, but is your name a Eraserhead reference, and if so, would you care to explain it in another thread (or link me to a post/website or somesuch which does.) Most obliged.

According to a few recent sales charts that I could find from Diamond and the X-Fan site, it seems that Uncanny X-Men consistently places behind New X-Men and Ultimate X-Men, is slightly ahead of Wolverine, and outsells X-Treme X-Men and the rest of the X-line. It consistently falls in the top 10 or top 15 comics in any given month.

Some estimated sales for June comics:
Ultimate X-Men #34 112,000
Wolverine #2 101,000
Uncanny X-Men #326 91,000
New Mutants #2 46,000
Exiles #28 39,000
Mystique #3 38,000
X-Men Unlimited #48 35,000

I think these are for pre-orders via Diamond. If any of these are still sold on newsstands, that would add to the figures.
