It's not that complicated, surely? Michael Jordan wears 23. Marc-Vivien Foé wore 23, bless his soul. Now Beckham is wearing 23. As far as I can tell, the only numbers free at Real Madrid were 4 and 23. 4 is a much-respected shirt number in Italy (although it did for Paul Gascoigne IIRC) but not so much in Spain, and certainly not in England, where it pretty much means "thuggish centre-half". So, 23...

I thought Foe wore 17 for Cameroon, Haus? Pretty sure Schaeffer and the subs all had 17s and Foe on their back in the Confederations final as a tribute. I dunno about West Ham, Man City and Lyon. Fucking tragic, anyway.

Anyway, I noticed this and thought it was cool.
