Hermetica is interesting, but rather late and you'd have to find a good translation from under the pile of dross available. There's evidence that it's an Egyptian-influenced Greek text, and therefore more applicable to study of Greek philosophy than Egyptian magic.

Are you interested in learning to read, eeoam, or to use as a magical language? Or just interested in the history?

I've never had the privelege to come across "The Hermetica", but I am reminded of a long time ago, when I had a copy of William Burrough's "The Job". For a bit I experimented with juxtaposing hieroglyphs with your run-of-the-mill Austin Osman Spare sigils....
It took alot of time..... I find symbols far better than mere word (even though words can process a helluva' lot of power). Another muse I've sparked, one of which involves designing a new language, just the same way that people experiment with making an Alphabet of Desire, purely for ritual work - just as an experiment...... I've been told that apparently for a Westerner that if to learn Chinese can open alot of right-brain processes???!!!! I think I'm starting to build up an Enochian fetish, I may have to start studying Enochian, Eris forbid!!!! Hieroglyphs, I think look pretty cool...... As Uncle Bill said "Destroy All Verbal Dogmatic Systems.........."
