Samurai Jack.

Is anyone else just overwhelmed by the amazingness of this cartoon?

(Apart from her.)

It is indeed an incredible show. The episode where Jack keeps stealing peoples' clothes in the animal city is just... a vision.

I like the one where he needs to replace his shoes. I also enjoy the use of silence and lack of dialog in this cartoon.

I don't get to catch this cartoon very often, but it's exceeded all my expectations. When I first saw it, I thought that it was spiffy, but I didn't think they could possibly have enough material for more than a season at best, and dear god was I wrong. The backgrounds alone (which, if I remember right from the "Making of Samurai Jack" episode, are all hand painted, not done on computer or any other such thing) are worth watching the show. Not to get overly sentimental, but it's a true hero's journey.

I hadn't seen the first episode of the series until a few weeks ago, and it was really amazing.

I'm gonna dredge this dusty thread up, here.

Okay, I finally got around to renting the dvd of the "movie"(I dont have cable) and was of course blown away. It's so great to see some care and attention given to a tv cartoon, what with the hand painted backgrounds and all. Also litle mini-homages to classic cartoons, like when Robin Hood is teaching the young Jack archery, and Jack fires an arrow at the same rich guy riding through the forest that was in the Daffy Duck/Robin Hood Warner Bros cartoon. I think the first season is out now and I'll be picking that up soonest.

It would be nice if Frank MIller got a little piece of this, dont you think?

I like the one that begins when Aku is holding a time-portal just out of reach (Jack can't jump high enough). So Jack spends the rest of episode learning how to jump from these Yeti type dudes. The end of this ep (no spoilers!) is just SO joycore it rocks.

Jump Good!

Ooooh. Coooooool...

Would anyone like to talk seriously about this? I mean, it's unusual in that it letterboxes itself from time to time, then suddenly comes off like a single vertical panel from a painting or a comic book, then the action is filmed in a very kinetic yet static way - postures and flashes...
