It's your timescale, Mr Messy, that may prove to be the problem. People who want and like cats usually already have some and it might be easier if your two could adapt to life with other cats around.
angel's is a good suggestion. Those guys would be likely to bust a gut to see your two are happily rehomed. Otherwise, most vet's practices will have notice boards where people can advertise for rehoming and there are people who would prefer mature cats to kittens since they're likely to be less destructive around the house and demand less attention. The thing about those boards is they'll be seen by people who may have a cat-shaped hole in their lives after their own has met with fatal misfortune.
