For those who didn't make it to the PL or StokeFest - London drinks, early this week?

Haus about we all give each other a big lovely huggle?
02:55 / 16.06.03
I know thatr a third meet in a week is getting a bit silly, but there seem to be armies of exciting young things crowding the streets London, so I'm hoping that Stokefest was small but perfectly formed, and that some lust for life yet lives in the hearts and minds of children everywhere.

Well, everywhere in London.

Anyone fancy it? Maybe meeting in London Bridge's Famous the George, or the PL/Chandos other Barbelocal? Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?

Can make it Mon Tues or Wed. I vote, especially with this nice weather and all, for London's famous "The George."

I still feel like I have to finish off my "meeting every barbelither in London" challenge for this week. So any time but Tues evening, any place, it's all good.

Could probably manage Tuesday or Thursday but on Wednesday I should be in the Valley. Tonight is a definite no.

Yikes, but yeah I'm up for some more drinking with it being summer, how about somewhere with a beer garden and sexy boygirls?

The george fits the bill of having a beer garden but we are no closer to chosing a date since there doesn't appear to be one we can all meet at...

I never made it out to Stoke and am here doing laundry near Paddington Station. Wd love to meet but leaving for Berlin tomorrow. Anyone up for a quick beer tonight?

hope stoke was fun.

(Haus: Do you think "suspicious persons" should in a rigidly prescriptive sense be used for people who incite suspicion or just those who are themselves suspicious, of, well things in general? It's been driving me nuts, and you, I knew, would know the answer.)

cheers...)

I'd love to meet you ce soir, alas. Perhaps at the infamous George?

HowEVER, it seems most people have an easier time doing Tuesday, so what do peeps say about Tues? I don't think that's poss for alas so is anyone up for the george TONIGHT at say 630?

Who are we losing on Tuesday? Alas and Waxy....hoom....

Perhaps Tueday would be best all round, but I'm up for a quick drink or so tonight - not too hardcore, however, since I wil be running on 0 hours' sleep last night. Bwah Bwah Bwah buzzzz....

(Alas - suspicious functions here either as a first or second-order term, I think, so there is an inbuilt ambiguity between "persons who arouse suspicion" and "persons who are suspicious of things". However, my instinct is the "persons" has left of a sense of agency and more a sense of description about it, so for me at least suspicious persons would be more likely to be people who were loci of suspicion, whereas suspicious people would be more people who suspected. I suspect that may in itself be subjective, though...)

So, tonight it is for an alas meet at the George on borough high st. (closest tube london bridge exit out of the northern line exit turn left and the george is on the left.)

That is, south down the main road, away from the bridge itself. The George is tucked away down an alley, but there is a big sign saying "The George" protruding onto the street, and it is, as my esteemed colleague says, on the left, after the fork in the road with the HSBC in the middle.

Oh YAY! 6:30 will be great. At George. And thanks especially to Haus for settling the 'suspicious persons' question. I'm trying to remember who I've met of you all before, and whose pix I've seen hereabouts. . . I think I'll just walk in and yell "Barbelith" in my most American of accents--strong on the 'r'--and you can all pretend you don't know me, and then I'll know who you are...

So, definitely I'm looking forward to this, I also expect it to be very low key and not likely long into the night!, and thanks to all for rearranging your lives for me. I may bring tall spouse--6'7", long curly hair, wears a straw fedora that British children seem to find hysterically funny. I'm less recognizeable, but blondish, wearing a purple and green shirt, but may change if the weather continues so sweaty. (that's as in "sweat-inducing" . . .)

ta ta, for now ...

Realistically I wouldn't be able to make it in before 8, so if people are going for a one/two drink evening, I think I'll leave it.

Shame, but hey! there's always next week when I start to get the sober-shakes

Is anyone going to be around slightly earlier, ie from 5.30ish onwards? I'm meeting people further down the South Bank later, and am not sure if it's feasibly to meet you people too, but may try it...

That's kinda what I figured. People actually sounded genuine in their "just the one!" claims. On the other hand, you never know, I may crack these stylesheets/my boss' head and be out a bit earlier.

Thanks to everyone who showed up in Stokie yesterday--it was loads of fun. And I'm not too pink (the Syrian blood saved me). I will try to make it tonight, but may already have plans...

Hang on, how did we get from 'Tuesday seems to be the best for everyone' to 'see you all tonight then'? I won't be able to make it as I have to sit in a un-air-conditioned council building and shout at teenagers.
