Or a pneumatic manservant?

The Return Of Rothkoid
04:21 / 16.06.03
And mummies love their robots. Nothing says class like picking the sand out of your bandages... with nanobots!

...and all this time I've been using insect larvae. So old-fashioned, me.

Does Flux turn into R. Kelly when he drinks? How strange.

Matthew Fluxington
07:48 / 16.06.03
...but I haven't been drinking!

Bear
07:54 / 16.06.03
Even scarier, maybe you should consider starting?

Tryphena Absent

Be very wary of Bear... before you know it you'll be drinking free tequila out of a bottle and watching a boy/girl? dance to the sounds of 'Love is in the air'.

moment of silence now.

Bear
08:22 / 16.06.03
Ahem - you have to admit you've never seen a better looking boy/girl in your life.

And as for dancing, Flyboy is the new Justin Timberlake - keep watching the charts.

Our Lady of The Two Towers
17:45 / 16.06.03
Even worse, the b-side to JT's new song is an audio essay on why The Authority was shit during the chorus of which Justin downs a pint. Have we ever seen Flyboy and Timberlake at the same Barbemeets?

I think JT usually sits over at the flurry table, gazing longingly at the Barbeloids...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Regrettable Juvenilia

Back to Mr. Kelly for a second - what do these lyrics mean?

Now it’s like “Murder She Wrote”
Once I get ya out them clothes

I thought I was pretty up with the youth but I'm not getting that at all, does it mean the girl he's singing about looks like Jessica Fletcher?

No star here laces
10:12 / 17.06.03
Nah, he means it's all over for her pre-teen virginity....

Kit-Cat Club
10:15 / 17.06.03
And the people next door will hear her scream and moan, apparently - presumably as the 'murder weapon' induces le petit mort. V. elegant simile, don't you know.

Regrettable Juvenilia
11:59 / 17.06.03
I think it's because "murder" is now just general ebonics for "wild and crazy times". This is thanks to Ja Rule in part, but like most linguistic mutations in hip-hop it's really just an extension of something we're all familiar with - "it's murder" = it's a nightmare, it's crazy, it's chaos; "it's chaos" = it's really fun in a hedonistic, regret-it-in-the-morning way.

Note that it's not necessarily the girl who's the murder victim - she's a killer, she slays R, etc. - although whitey will no doubt read it that way 99% of the time. Tsk. Whitey.

Ahhh

But still "murder she wrote" might have picked something a bit less BBC1 afternoons

All I know is that i fucking despise Flux for posting this on his blog, and therefore getting it stuck in my head all day yesterday, you fucking fuckface you.

Making someone repeat the refrain "It's the freakin' weekend..." all day, Monday is probably a capital offense. Fucker.

The "Murder She Wrote" was explained to me over in this ILM thread about the song.

There's one person who is thinking along the same lines as Kit Cat Club, and another suggests that "Murder She Wrote" is being employed with the same meaning as "that's all she wrote". That is, it's ovah."

But more likely, it is this:

"Murder She Wrote" = Chaka Demus & Pliers dancehall hit from early '90s. There's your reggae link John D.

There's also the whole "I'm-a murder that coochie" vibe there that is mighty distasteful if you think about it much but who's thinking? To think is not TO DO. And that's ALL he wants to do.
