...well, maybe not immediately, but - all will become clear...
sitting on brighton promenade this afternoon, reading my Guardian (leftish uk broadsheet) thinking about what happened last nite.
and i'd finished the news, analysis, leafed over to the letters page - which is when the plan came together.
ok: how about this?
i know there was talk around the board a week or so ago to build some kind of 911 web page. as i remember server space and web design skillz had been freely offered. content seemed to be the only sticking factor.
i thought - what about if we built this site, filled it with a concise, sanppy, snazzy FAQ-style set of info regarding our opinion of 911, its background, and what we should be doing now. and stuff the text with hyperlinks to sources.
in one fell swoop we have our own resource page, plus a ref for others, plus a general expandable intro. while the page is being built, we continue to pass the peace pipe around chat rooms, honing tactics etc.
when the page is complete, we write letters to the press. the way i'd choose to direct mine would be along the lines of - don't feel entirely happy with the way the world's going? can't protest in the real world? feel powerless?
do it online. follow with brief summary of 'chatroom intervention' or whatever. big it up. give the addy.
then...then, who knows? maybe it'll catch on. maybe it will reconnect people to feeling they can do something.
whaddya think? a way to go? something to aim for? |
