Hello Magick forum - I haven't posted here before but regularly post in the chaos magick forum Invisible Illuminati. Here's an essay I conjured up yesterday...

What sort of level of interactivity is by nature the conscious level of intelligence running through all things? Every spark of existence at every level contains the infinite sum of universal intelligence – but what level of interaction is enjoyed by the god force that drives the river forward or the perfect unity and synchronicity of the water therein, or even the sublime decision to carve this way - or that? To look at it another way, where does the plain of Gnosis feed back into the loop? What could I, I ask myself, want any more than to be the mind in the water? Clearly within this argument I am establishing that there is fully conscious/interactive intelligence forming singularities of intent at all times in everything whilst at the same time riding off a calm sea of ‘simple/perfect existence’.

Now to bring the forces of the universe into much sharper focus lets look at us – at humans. Certain of us work with the universal forces in our own ways and with varying degrees of interaction. As ‘humans’ we are constantly pushing up against the restraints of our manifest selves. The structure and evolution of the brain forces an ultimately limited set of reality perceptions. What reality that is perceived can be shaped to a huge degree dependant on our desires and intents. Whilst these forces may be limitless, as ‘humans’ the ‘perception’ is limited. Also when I say perception I mean the level of perception that we are able to affect anything with. I am sure that a great deal of people on this list will have perceived ‘ALL’ in a state of sublime gnosis. But where were you in that infinite? How much can you interact with and what could you use?

OK so what about Magick and what about the possibility of transcending the limits of the human form? Magick and ordered ‘limitless’ will must be the human tool. We create and use god forms as almost ‘all powerful’ embodiments of human perception yet they are bound by whence they came. Then there is the concept of transcendence of perhaps being a true god and being ‘interactive’ within Absolutely Anything Desired. How this is done is purely individual - as is precisely what is done, therefore I will leave that one there.

However the reader may have noticed that I have been stressing the reality of the human experience, but what of our underwater equivalents on this planet? Dolphins ‘for example’ (and I do stress ‘for example’ as an example is all that is required lest I fall into the black hole of the god Dogma) Dolphins display an exceptionally diverse language, organisational interactive behaviour and unlike most humans an unhindered mental and telepathic social collective. So what is Dolphin Magick like? How do they interact with the universe as a whole? – Surely we are talking about levels of perception and interaction that are largely invisible to the scope of the human ‘magickian’. How do they do it and what are the ways to know how they are doing it? What do they understand by the concept and achievement of transcendence of form? Most importantly of all to me at the end of this argument would be the question, What do we already know…where have inter species interactive magick barriers met and been crossed?

I hope we can start some arguments and debate on some or any of the topics mentioned.
Thanks for your time.

Wat-Ever

Morrison delves into dolphin point of view in Animal Man. i tend to think dolphins see themselves as that-which-is-not-water-nor-air, and humans as a malevolent force of nature, a dangerous predator with a gibbering sound for communication. star trek 4 has whales singing to a giant alien thing that disrupts earth's weather when the whales go extinct. and in an episode of the simpsons, a halloween special, dolphins fought and defeated the human population and we were cast into the ocean, floating on our couches and whatnot. the end was an array of drowned floating bodies spelling out the words 'the end?'. and of course grant has psychic other-dimensional dolphin agents working for the Hand in The Filth.

Um, the mage/familiar bond? Witches and their black cats, y'know? Is that what you mean?

Nope - (although I do acknowledge the open ended nature of my question) I mean specifically species with similar levels of cognitive complexity to ourselves. The specific complexity of our brains allows us to organise 'reality', i.e. order out of chaos. What strikes me from my observations of dolphin behaviour is their use of language which has been shown to involve nouns, verbs and adjectives. They also seem to use specific tools, such as bubble nets and exhibit unique methods of behaviour in all different groupings across the planet.

Unhindered humans use language, tools, build things etc - but also in an organised way link up with the rest of the universe and affect change through our intent. We call it Magick. So what I'm talking about is that in all the illuminated world of human magick is there any understanding of the organised methods other animals such as dolphins use to order their intent on the universe. Dolphin Magick - yes or no? Bearing in mind the scope of their perception of the universe would be very different to ours due to the evolution of their brains - so therefore very different 'magick'.

I don't know about dolphin magic but there is apparently monkey magic :0)
But seriously, why would a dolphin need magick? What for?
I always imagine them as pretty zen, y'know, doing and being whatever they like and not worrying too much about existential philosophy, religion or magic. They seem to have a sense of humour, maybe they're laughing at us...

Cool..I like the whole Zen easy going dolphin ting. The conversation has really expanded in the Invisible Illuminati. The web presence is a yahoo group which can be found via www.chaosmagic.com. I'll mostly be following up the stuff there.... Wat-Ever
