Quantum spacetime

A friend sent me this quote from the book Quantum Gravity
(I'm unsure of the author)

quote "....we showed that a theory in which spacetime was discrete on small scales could solve many of the problems of quantum gravity. We did this by studying the implications of the hypothesis that the structure of spacetime was like a FRACTAL at Planck scales"

Does anyone have more information on this research or where to find it?

Is this related to the Holographic Principle? Discrete bits of information of the Planck length, anyone?

If so, this is beautiful.

If not, this is still beautiful.

i'd say it's as accurate as you believe it is. fits right in, of course, but it's obvious, to me at least, that things do repeat themselves on every scale, and it's been my experience that science is always wrong, seeing as how new ideas always end up replacing or modifying the old. so it's probably pretty close to the truth, but not exactly. like all science, IMHO. but you're right, it is beautiful. i believe in 'beauty = truth' to the extent that words can express these concepts. so i say good job. my friend delves a lot deeper into the science aspect of cosmology and especially quantum physics than i do, i'll ask him about it and reply.
