did anyone else get these pre-2000AD boys weeklies?

and does anyone still have their warlord code wheel and ID card from when they sent their 10pence in to join up?

my mate got really worried for a while as he was a member of warlord and fireballs club and thought he would be executed as a double agent.

I think I've still got my Warlord wallet, but no codewheel as I remember, just a little booklet with codes in. And a letter from Warlord which I was meant to destroy, but I didn't.

Your friend would have been okay, though, wouldn't he ? After all, wasn't Warlord Fireball's uncle or something like that ?

I didn't destroy my letter from Lord Peter Flint Either.

How bloody minded of me.

And you.

can one of you post a copy of these top secret documents up here

it should be safe,
i believe the war is over now, unless peter flint is fighting al quaeda, or better yet the cia.

i think the code wheel was in fact from the war against the volds in 2000ad, my mistake, so may fronts in that never ending battle for freedom.....

Sorry, doc, no access to a scanner, and besides Flint'd lob me off a cliff if I did that.

The wheel thing isn't the disaster survival thing that was free with Tornado (issue 2, I think), by any chance ? Blue cardboard wallet thing of some sort, if memory serves...

my god yes, tornado, original home of strontium dog, or was it starlord?

why are my memories of comic collecting age 7 so damn messed up?
must be some deep trauma i am surpressing, like when those free bionic transfers from 2000ad issue 2 came off just as i was about to lift that car up....
if there isn't some sort of saddo IPC nostalgia comics site there ought to be

Strontium Dog was in Starlord. Tornado was the one with Dave Gibbons as a super-hero and Captain Klep, Black Hawk and Mind of Wolfie Smith strips.

Saddo nostalgia website for you:

Of course that's Dave Gibbons as Big E (and we do mean 'big'). Dave Gibbons - whatever happened to him?

Tornado was of course the comic that had a multiple personality disorder because it couldn't decide if it wanted to be 2000AD, Battle, Action or all 3 at once.

Also responsible for perhaps the most brilliant and bonkers idea for a comic strip ever - when Tornado merged with 2000AD, they took the character of Black Hawk (from a strip based in the era of the Roman Empire) and put him into outer space! I thought that was the coolest idea ever at the time. Of course it was rubbish, but it's the thought that counts...

Here's another cool idea: Hookjaw goes back in time to WWII and fights the Germans
