Next to my computer stands a leg. It is the leg of a robotic bear...or Zear as he was known when I was six.
I used to have zoids a long time ago. I had the dinstinction of having zoids proper from a charity shop as opposed to Zoids 2000 which were all basically silly shiny new versions my friends had.
The little men who sat in the heads were cool. I always wanted to shrink down to their size and actually control Slither, Redhorn et al. My real dream was to control Ultrazoid, together with what, sixteen other little shiny android men, and destroy. Just destroy, in a truly disturbing way. And those little rubber connectors that used to get lost in the hoover. Aah yes.
They were quite ace, when I was kid they were amongst the only toys I really "dug". It was the way that some quite ace design work had gone into it, and there seemed to be an underlying intelligence to them. The way they moved like real animals (or simmilar) was ace, and the way they could be put together by kids. That was ace.
This got me thinking. Why doesn't HR Giger design a new line of Zoids or Transformers, and have grant morrison do the comic, and would this be ACE or what?
And can anyone give me a full list of all zoid names so i can do this myself for my a level art? |
