I'm reading the Fourth Rail's review of PREVIEWS for August and they mention an upcoming series entitled FACTION PARADOX by Lawrence Miles with art by Jim Calafiore and Peter Palmiotti. Intrigued by the concept, I click on links provided for more info:

My interest grew, and I began clicking on more links for info. And it appears this whole thing is in fact, related to DOCTOR WHO. Now, I enjoyed the show immensely when it was on PBS here in the States, but I was just a lil feller back then. I don't remember anything even vaguely like this amidst all the scarves and hats.

Might this be good? Because my fanfic-sense is tingling, here....

Faction Paradox is from the DW books, not the show. They're the creation of the books' version of Grant Morrison, a writer named Lawrence Miles. If he's doing the comic, it should be pretty decent.

I used to read the books, don't know who Faction Paradox is, but their site makes me very intrigued so... I'm in.

Oh, and buy the Talons of Weng Chiang DVD in October. Great stuff.

Faction Paradox are one of the more interesting story ideas created since the show went off air.
In a nutshell they are one of the great houses of Gallifrey, who take a much more vodoo/ritualistic approach to dabbling in time. In my opinion they are quite scary.
Their introduction has lead to some lovely plots involving the creation of sentient tardis (TARDI?), the doctors history and biodata being re-written causing his third incarnation to die and regenerate in a completely different set of circumstances, and the total destuction of gallifrey.
This comic will be part of a spin-off range, so no mention of Dr Who is allowed - Gallifrey will be referred to as home of the great houses etc. However, looks very interesting indeed.
