Is street culture dead? (live from "the hippest place in da states" aka Portland)

Sounds like something scary, but I'm live from Portland, and it may appear that street culture has gone bye bye. This is the place to be, yo.

Yet it's all about the warehouse DIY thing, and the good old hanging out on the street days appear to be over, unless you're a 16 year old junkie.

What happened to street culture? Everyone is so into the TAZinvisible thing. Good to stay away from masspublic eye, me knows, but how about the new kids who are lookin fer dare peepel? Where do they go? How are they suppose to find the warehouses when they arrive fresh in town? Where do they hang out, if not the street?

The culture is turning *local exclusive* here, to the point where anyone passing through is directly ignored. Since you usually hear about the really cool events weeks in advance, the wanderer/newbie is left finding entertainment through lame publications like The Mercury, (synonym: The Guardian) especially when they wander alone.

While I'm able to pick up on psychic chaos signals, (I know which strangers I want to talk to now) I find that picking up on psychic chaos party signals is a little more difficult, especially when the party is in some hidden remote location that would take hours and hours to find.

There's also the issue of there being very few twisted twisted cyber types (who actually leave the computer) here. How cutting edge can a city be when it doesn't consist of robotronapoclyptia? Neuro genetic implants, why have thou forsaken me? I headin back to Santa Cruz, hey.

But I might be back here some day. Any Portlanders up for reviving street culture, or is it soooooooo 5 years ago?
