Not half as good as The Very Secret Diaries. Still, a brief perusal of the host website prompted me to spend the afternoon reading LotR slash. Why is there not more fantasy novel slash?

Because it gets published and becomes de facto fantasy. Mary Gentle's 'Grunts', for example.

Or oooh, ooh, The Fall of the Kings: m/m romance by a RL f/f couple in fantasy novel form. With academics and aristocrats and lots of intrigue. Also a piratical lesbian who saves the day.

Happy happy.

Just looked 'em up on Amazon. Rock!

But its not exactly the same thing, is it? As writing actual slash about pre-existing characters... just surprised people don't write more about, say Paul Atreides and Feyd-Rautha...or Fitz and the Fool...or...well, you get the picture.

But, more interestingly, Deva - Award-Winning Slash Writer? Mmm?

Yes! Hah! I am award-winning! I have won a Screwz!

Well, technically, two: one for the f/f B7 zine I co-edited (which won Best Zine, amazingly, given that it single-handedly accounts for about 35% of all published B7 f/f in the last twenty years), and one, jointly, for Best Novella. What I really like about that is that my story is a completely non-explicit coming-out narrative about two original female characters - it's barely slash at all in any traditional sense - and the other story that won is, like, vile dirty kinky sex in one of the most popular m/m pairings in the fandom. We are a happily diverse bunch in B7...

And Haus, I shall mail you your copy of the award-winning zine containing the award-winning novella AND award-winning art on Monday. But I have no manflesh for you.

Worth reading if only for the phrase "dirty rotten shagging thoughts", which is going to root itself deeply into my personal lexicon.
