I just got a book of collected comic strips by a cartoonist called Peter Blegvad. And it blew me away. It was like a combination of Calvin&Hobbes, Invisibles, and Promethea! It was simultaneously cute and mind-fucking. I was wondering if any of you more knowledgeable people could help me out I want more by this guy lots more. Thanks.

DEP!
Blevgad pops up here and there, but he didn't do anything else with Leviathan. It ran for years in the Independent on Sunday and most people just flicked past it. It lost me for a while, but when I got a signed proof (yay!) from Sort Of books, I realised just what he was trying to do. Lots of fun play with the cartoon form. All sorts of stuff about the nature of perception based on the mind of a child/cipher. Great stuff. The sod didn't sell, though. I reckon there's probably a whole heap in a discount shop somewhere... Must try abebooks...

Peter Blegvad taught me creative writing at warwick uni (uk)...in '98. can't remember much about him apart from he's a damn nice bloke.
the strip was written when / based on him being at home and looking after his baby. he used to be in a folk band that where signed to Richard Bransons Virgin label (can't remember the name but they where the first group he signed so maybe some pop quiz sites can help you out), i've never heard the music but the lyrics peter wrote where really entertaining. erm...
sorry can't be more help

oh yeh Leviathan is great and well worth checking out.
