Well, I never made it to work. I’ve got mixed feelings about not going in. on the one hand the management are sound (which is unusual) on the other hand I could be working at a depot which is two minutes walk from my place instead of taking two tubes and a bus to get to my current depot, but they wont transfer me. Anyway, I am drinking a medicinal cup of tea. Tea, in the words of George Orwell (he wrote a whole essay about making a good cuppa) is “one of the mainstays of civilisation in this country”, one of my pet hates is coffee, especially instant stuff. The coffee drinker is a sad sight to behold, without their daily fix they are a gibbering wreck. I have managed to polarise the two drinks in such a way: Drink tea and you will lead a long and healthy life, drink coffee and you’ll probably die before your time. |
