Is there anything being done in Supermarionation? Or is it a dead medium?

There's some show on tv right now and its all in SM and I was wondering is anything new happening or is it still the same old Captain Scarlett and that other show...the one with the jet and the sub and the puppets with strings...you know...the one with the rocketship. Its Brittish.

Yes, it's dead, and should stay that way.
Even Gerry Anderson hated having to use puppets, and he should know whether it's worth sticking with.
C'mon, I'll admit that Thunderbirds and Stingray were good for their time, but Fireball XL5, Joe90 and especially Terrahawks were rank.

More: Scott Rudin and Matt Stone will produce. Trey Parker will direct. The entire cast will be wooden puppets. Movie will poke fun at all the action movies today, and will be budgeted around $20 million.

Sounds like the South Park boys are down with Supermarionation.

There's a live-action Thunderbirds in the works, which by all indications will be utterly shiteful.

If they ever make a movie of Warren Ellis' GLOBAL FREQUENCY, I think they should use puppets.

Then there's Legend Of The Sacred Stone. Haven't seen it, but looks close enough to creep me out. Kung-fu puppets, basically.

It's even available on DVD.

Ah yes, but will disney Joe90 steal a MiG and strafe a runway and compound, apparently killing dozens of Soviet troops and support personnel?

that's all i remember of Joe from seeing it as a kid....
