(Reponse on first blush)
I think a company is more general and a corporation is a specific subset of company. Companies are merely entities devoted to economic transactions for profit. I know that the name 'corporation' means something like 'embodied.' They are said to have the political rights of a human being. The irony here is that they don't have bodies and the high powered highly paid lawyers of corporations have made it impossible to make corporations accountable for their abuses because they don't have bodies, do not reside in a particular land, and are thus unable to be brought up on charges of a particular political entity. They are bodiless bodies.
Another thing- and this is all from memory, and so may be wrong, corporations further dillute responsability by ostensibly being ran by its shareholders, all of whom are invited to certain policy meetings. The corporate lawyers use this as pretext also for not bringing law to bear on criminal practices of corp's. |
