Barbelith Stars In Their Eyes

that
10:50 / 25.05.03
So there's this programme in the UK, for those that don't know, called Stars In Their Eyes where participants dress up as a famous singer and get their moment in the sun, singing onstage in a usually dire impression of the person they've chosen to 'be'. So anyway, given this format, who would you be?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
10:58 / 25.05.03
Tonight, Barbelith, I shall be...

Oliver Reed. That time they got him unfairly with the CCTV camera on The Word, and he made a shameful drunken exhibition of himself. And I'll sing some appalling drinking song.

Eloi Tsabaoth
10:59 / 25.05.03
Tonight Cholister, I am going to be... Beck Hansen! In a tatty blonde wig, flopping around like a funky marionette, singing Devil's Haircut.

The Return Of Rothkoid
12:46 / 25.05.03
Well, assuming I can get a prosthetic Star Trek II chest, I shall be Morrissey, doing "Jack The Ripper".

Failing that, Tom Waits doing "Anywhere I Lay My Head". With a megaphone and a Dixieland band.

Tonight Matthew/Cholister...
... I'm going to be Rani/ Priya (delete as required) from Bombay Dreams. (www.bombaydreamstheshow.com)

Aaaah *sighs dreamily*

I spent all last night doing the dance from Shakalaka Baby with my friend, watching the reflection in his window. How sad am I?

Our Lady of The Two Towers
20:43 / 25.05.03
Tonight Matthew, I'm going to take a shot at John Lennon...

Saint Keggers
21:15 / 25.05.03

22:52 / 25.05.03
Boom! Shakalaka boom! I too have practised the moves in front of the window, although perhaps different ones...

in fact, what the hell (any level you like), I'm in the mood, no-one's in, I quite fancy switching off the Graham Norton shite and whacking the tunes on right now

Solitaire Rose as Tom Servo
22:53 / 25.05.03
Tonight, the part of Solitaire Roser will be played by Adam Corolla.

No one will notice a difference.

The Falcon
01:48 / 26.05.03
I suppose I'll be Mike Patton, singing 'Easy'.

This thread would be a whole lot more entertaining if everyone posted before-and-after photos of themselves as the singer of their choosing.

If I'm not mistaken, Stars In Their Eyes DID make it over to America, presented by the guy from that Fresh Prince tv show instead of Matthew Kelly...

11:07 / 27.05.03
Tonight I'll be appearing as Bjork- singing ,you guessed it, It's oh so Quiet (badly)

No star here laces
13:43 / 27.05.03

i do a mean courtney love impersonation. when i sing, i'm more courtney than courtney. so i'd like to come out all '94 courtney style in a too-small-on-the-tits baby doll dress and blonde wig all smeary lipstick and my arm still tied off. and sing violet. but i can't play guitar.

they have this on mtv in the states, or at least they used to; it's called becoming.

Whisky Priestess
17:16 / 27.05.03
Unfortunately I neither look or sound anything like Annie Lennox. On the other hand, this certainly doesn't stop other members of the Great British Public impersonating her, so tonight, Matthew, that's who I'm going to be.

Ellis says:
17:35 / 27.05.03
Tom Petty singing Learning to Fly.

Ninjas make great pets

The Apple-Picker

Oh, choices. Kylie or Cher?

Ultimately, it has to be Cher---so I can wear more than one fantastic outfit. I want to start out with the tribal zebra gear.

There's also a Canadian version of the show called SARS in Their Eyes. No, really.

Becoming is more high budget and quite different in nature. Basically, Stars in Their Eyes allows five or six people per episode to don bad wigs and dodgy clothes and actually sing onstage. Whereas Becoming involves getting treated 'like a star' and miming in a 'music video'. Stars in Their Eyes is a bit more like Wannabees, if anything.

Lisa Lopes died in a carcrash. You know, 'hanging out the side of her best friend's ride...', etc.

Aaliyah died in a 'copter crash.
