Is it just me, or does GM really need to improve his website updates?

I know this is old news, but who the hell is in charge of GM's website? In another 3 and a half months or so it'll be a year since his website was updated. What the hell is up with that? Is he too busy? Does he just not care? Is it too much effort? Geez.

Maybe he should quit writing comics and start up his own forum or something. He could dedicate all his time to that instead.

Thats what all the great comic writers do.

Whatever, still though why keep a column open if you don't plan on updating it?? But I get that he is a busy guy....

Well obviously he's busy, but I can think of a lot of other writers/artists/musicians whatever who are just as busy but still at least make sure their website gets updated at least once a month. I mean, throw a bone to the fans or who are keeping them in business at least.

I'm happy he wrote any of it at all...I hate the websites by "creators" of any kind which is a glorified catalog and upcoming dates list.

Grant's prolly one of those guys who wants to do a lot more than he has time to do. Creative people are like that.

I loved the way he was all 'oh yeah, check out my Crack Comics site, it'll have loads of stuff about the Filth on it', now it's a year later, the Filth has nearly finished and lo and behold it's barely been touched since before the thing started.

Personally, I want him out there doing stuff than sitting in a darkened room talking to his most rabid fans, but arguably having old out of date material out there which you're responsible for seems worse than having no web-presense at all?

You know, the section that gives you "a near comprehensive list of all work to date" was updated last tuesday (I think...) to bring The Filth up to date. Didn't update the New X-Men bit though...

Anyway, it's not any help I suppose, since what anyone really wants to see is a new column or something...

Well, he is a chaos magician, and chaos magicians use modern technology as magical tools, right? You would think he would be utilizing the magical power of the internet more.

I enjoy all the background stuff on the Crack site and I enjoy seeing GM's site when new content goes up, but I consider all this bonus material which GM is under no obligation to provide. If he's dedicating more time to writing comics then I certainly have no complaints.

From the Slushfactory interview:

We update whenever we can but most of the time these days I'm working on stuff that pays the bills and I currently have 27 separate projects at various stages of completion so the website usually gets shoved to the bottom of the list on any given day.

The truth is there's such limited response when we do update so it seems like something of a wasted effort most of the time. Not one comic book creator had the guts to send me a photo of themselves in drag last time. Why bother with these losers ?

You see. It's all because Mark Millar won't take a photo of himself in a skirt that Grant won't update his site. It's because he doesn't have a picture of Warren Ellis in a bikini that Mr. Morrison is blue.

I was observing to my good friend Chris Bachalo, who is not as good a friend as Grant Morrison, who is my best friend, the fucker (see? I can do that and he won't even mind), that if I had sent in a picture of myself in a dress then New X-Men would never get written, because my best friend Grant Morrison would be too busy loooking at it, because he is gay, but not really. He is just such a good friend that I can call him gay and everything and he won't mind. Because me and Grant are like sister and brothahahahahahaha.

Ahahaha.

Ahaa.

You know, you can write Grant and tell him you'd like to have the website updated. I am sure he would appericate the feedback.

Personally, I would rather have the Filth and X-Men and whatever else he is working on than sacrifice for regular website updates. Besides, Grant's work is so damn deep, I am always finding out new things about him when I reread his work. Maybe your time would be better spent rereading Animal Man or Mystery Play than reading his website?

That's just my two-pennies.

Tell me, Haus, what the fuck are you talking about in your last post?

Maybe it would be cool if he'd post a new excerpt from his novel in progress "The If". Or, better yet, Pop Magic 3. But I'm not holding my breath on that last one.

that's a bit of whinning, isn't it?

of course we would all just love weekly updates at g-m.com [I can say for myself that if it is 3 in the morning, I'm tired as hell and discover there's a new Grant column I'll probably stay up until I finish it] but as most people said, we'd rather have his comics on time. and he's been doing a lot of them in advance so he can go Hollywood more to keep old contacts alive and make new ones. it's not like he'll get a screenplay deal or comic pitch going because an editor or producer discovered him via the website. which is updated by Grant himself and girlfriend Kristan [who used to post here], as far as I know. and doesn't this gives it a charming DYI feel?

and ta for the Slushfactory link, Lady.

I don't want weekly updates, but I would think for his own sake a bit more often than eight months would be better. And what was the point with setting up that other website if he's not going to update it regularly for each issue of The Filth?

Still, it's not like I've ever thought 'I wonder what GM is doing, I know, I'll check his website'. You can track him interview by interview over many other sites.

didn't think a new topic for this was needed, so: having read that Slushfactory interview I have to ask where to find this Flash [vol 1] #163 that Grant talks so much about. I checked and it seems there's no Flash Archives #4 published yet. can anybody point to a review, scan, whatever?

What GM realy needs to do is hire Tom to run his web site. The increased sales a Tom Coates designed and run web site would generate would easy pay his salary, yeah? =)
