You guys haven't posted about this yet?

It's only the best movie ever, yo.

So what did you think of it, Rage? Did you enjoy it? It sounds interesting. When did it come out? Is there a website for the movie?

And, to broaden the topic a little, just in case we are all too lame to discuss Cowboy Bebop - has their been much good anime getting theatrical releases lately? Or on video, for that matter?

For some reason this movie bypassed Philadelphia. Considered going to NYC to see it, but it'll probably be out in DVD by summertime.

How was the music, Rage? I've heard it's not quite as good as most of the stuff in television show....

Not so you'd notice. Britain is way behind the rest of the world on that score, it seems. Get thee to a multi-region player (or download it with your broadband).

I hear there's a third Patlabor movie and a second Ghost in the Shell movie in the pipeline, although I have no idea when they'll be out on DVD with decent English subs.

Am I seriously the only person whose seen this here? ::giggle:: What we have is the new cult classic. I can't explain this movie: just go see it!

(And try seeing it on LSD if you're up for a twisted little adventure. Totally blew us away.)

I thought the music was pretty cool, but I don't remember any of it that well, (so it must not have been the best) but I've gotta say that the first song/opening was as good (if not better) as the opening for X-Men 2. (which I previously thought had the best opening movie scene Ever) I can't wait for Speed to see the cracking on Waking Life bit. Seriously hilarious. And why is Ed the coolest anime chick in the entire universe? You guys are gonna love the virus metaphors, not to mention this beautifully insane world of post apocalpyse "hi, tech."

If this has been out in Japan for a few years now, I honestly have no clue what I'm doing in Amerika.

This movie makes Fight Club look like There's Something About Mary.

This movie makes Fight Club look like There's Something About Mary.

You are talking about the film where Ed's dog suddenly becomes far more menacing and sinister then it ever was in the series, right? Where Faye displays very visible and slightly inexplicable concern for Spike and Jet? (I don't know where to situate the film, I mean Spike died at the end of series. Didn't he?)

I dunno, I saw the film maybe a little over a year ago, and I don't remember anything evocative of or even comparable to Fight Club. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the series, which was more nuanced. Perhaps I need to watch it again?

I loved this movie but then I love the TV show and have been waiting forever for them to show it in Miami. But it finally got here and it was great.

The music, though, is better on the show. I missed that great Jazz intro.

Yeah, the release bypassed King Of Prussia as well. How surprising.

*pfffft*

DVD seems to be planned for June which I shall definitely be checking out.

I mean Spike died at the end of series. Didn't he?

You're gonna carry that weight.

Or, (in my interpretation) you have to decide if he lives or dies. After all, he survives far worse than that many times over during the course of the series.

The movie takes place before the final 2 part series finale of the anime. So that's why Spike is alive in the movie.

btw, this movie is brilliant simply for the jeet kune do fighting at the end. that is some fantastic animation work. i've never seen hand to hand combat done so well in an anime.

recent good anime? Patlabor 3 is pretty good. Metropolis is great. Spirited Away, of course. Jin-Roh. Spriggan is good. But those are a year or so old by now... The new Otomo movie, Steamboy, looks friggin' incredible.

the movie was really beautiful, but i just can't stand faye's huge boobies. the soundttrack was pretty surreal at times. i am specifically thinking of that climactic fight scene with spike and the villain on top of the halloween tower. the song during the fight begis with the line "i just wanna pop your cherry, girl" or something like that...

i should have guessed that someone from this board knows speed. he is one of those well-connected eccentrics that makes me believe the 'six-degrees between yourself and anyone else in the world' theory.

I really enjoyed it. There were a couple pretty good jokes here and there, and the music was great.

"And you! You take way too long to take a shit!"

When does the movie take place in regards to the series? A friend tells me it's between episodes 22 and 23, but I've heard all kinds of shit.

I don't know, the opening of X-2 is the BEST THING EVER if you happen to be coming up during it. I'm hoping to see Beebop in the next few days. In an unaltered state.

Ya, not everyone should see that shit tripping. ::giggle::

You've just given me a sweet idea for a new thread.

Ask me how many times I have seen it in the theater. No, go ahead.

And how many times I have watched the series. No, go ahead.

My Spike Spiegel statue waves at all of you from the mantle.

Favorite episodes: "Jupiter Jazz."

It's become an obsession in the past six months, really....

Argh. It's come out on DVD, but no fucking shop had it today. They'd all sold out, the bastards.

I got my DVD. It was so weird seeing what the voice actors look like.
