Is there a 9-11 warning in the "invisibles"?

did anybody recognize the references to the wtc-crashes in the "invisibles"-cover-art?: http://www.vogeltanz.at/jpegs/strange_invisible_pic.jpg

i think you could see the burning wickerman as a symbol for the wtc, then there is this "11-thing", worn by 2(!) invisibles-members (the planes?) and, wow!, there are exactly 9 (!!!) rabbits sitting around in the meadows. not to mention the low sun which could be seen as a reference to the early morning hours.

but... the picture was made in 1999!!!

is there any real time-travelling??? or does art always reflect extreme states of space-time incidentially?

What do we think the other 'Invisibles' covers are "warning" us, then?

i didnĀ“t think about THAT yet... it was only the one i mentioned which "attracted" my conspirational cracked mind.

Did you ahve to settle for that?

Grant Morrison came to me in a dream and gave me a personal warning about 9-11 and the subsequent stock market depression, touching on the Enron scandal and the invasion of Iraq.

And then wanked me off.

With a sock full of liver.

Shame I didn't think of mentioning it before, really...

oh, well, strange dreams you have, my son... :-)

but: i think your dreams are a result of your suppressed homosexual tendencies... you should live `em out! free yourself! and your dreams will get better, my dear honeybutt...

but, seriously, the international and national acting of the us-government is easy to foresee: the more absurd it is the more sure it will happen...

Yes, but have you seen this?

The decor's sort of Islamic-looking, so that's obviously Iraq. There are (approximately) 17 poppy-heads visible in the vase in the foreground - and both characters look exhausted, as if they've been marching...

And when was the invasion of Iraq originally scheduled for? March 17th!!!

Be amazed.

Has there ever been a good explanation as to why Edith's arse is white on that cover?

Has there ever been a good explanation as to why Edith's arse is white on that cover?

I always assumed that it was because DC was nervous about putting out a book with a bare bottom on the cover, and rather than having Bolland re-draw the whole thing, they settled for fudging the color in hopes that people would think Edith was wearing form-fitting, oddly-cut underpants.

Remember: it's all about plausible deniability.

If it bothers you that much, get a pack of flesh-tone Crayolas and fix it yourself.

I'm sorry. I'm having an off day. a very off day.

regardless, though; I think it's incredibly easy to retrofit "things" into "things" - whether by conscious effort or unconscious - and more so with images, simply because of how object-rich they are. you can pick out the things you need, and drop the things you dont easier than with text, because of the way images work. and the things you've dropped, or that dont fit with the theory will be less apparent.

stating the obvious, I know, and more a little off-topic, but... thought I'd go ahead and state anyway.

Yossarian, why are you looking for subliminal hints in the Invisibles when the second issue of his X-Men run has a BIG FUCKING PLANE smashing into a TOWER BLOCK? Or is that just a commentary on the labour Government's failure to repeal Section 28 and ban fox-hunting?

I'm with Sypha Nadon on this one (what else is new?). Major events happen all the time, its just whether or not we see them. So, what happened on the 5th that was so much more Earth-shattering then the 6th?
As to the whole GM magickal predictions thing: dude, he's a magician. A rather powerful one at that. Of course he's going to say things that are warnings no one realizes! And I think Guadalupe's right, New X-Men 115 was a bigger connection then Invisibles (v3) #11. Or maybe its a coincidence. Who knows?

Ditto. Without the love. Or beauty and wit. And a timeframe which must be kept.

I always thought Edith was wearing underwear. Shows you how much I know?

As for the cover predicting 9-11. I say sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Then again, it's good to speculate and that's one of the things that makes this forum so fun, the massive overanalyzing of every little Invisibles detail. Hell, I once had a topic on Tarquin.

I think this is probably the fifth time I've said this, but page six of issue one of Marvel New Universe's The War has a drawing of the Pentagon with a big smoking hole in the side. A paranormal psycho named Blowout tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan during a press conference because he, Blowout, hated being in the army. Reagan was about to declare war on terrorism over the total destruction of Pittsburgh. Blowout's next stop was the Alamo, then a visit to the Ayatollah, who converts him to the Dark Side of Islam and uses him against the West.

I'm just sayin'.

X-Force #3 had the WTC blown up by two mutant terrorists!

(Juggernaut and Black Tom)

The former is empowered by some kind of Asiatic jewel!

Rob Liefeld = Grant Morrison 10 years before the event!

I thought you meant the panel where Mason is raising a champange glass as takes the piss (literally) on New York City from atop a high building, with the city and the WTC prominently sprawled before him.

Oh, and what exactly was the scene like when the plane flew into the building in NXM 115? Was that when the super-Sentinels blew up Genosha (the tower was somewhere where Emma was teaching her students at the time, right?)?

Oh, and Qalyn, that bit about the New Universe THE WAR issue is verrry interesting. As is the bit about X-FORCE #3 WTC destruction

Remember that origin story of Thundera of the Femizons who lived in an all-female island community and found out when she came to the real world that all she needed was the love of a good man to sort her out? I think Stan Lee hit the nail right on the head there, because several years later I also saw it happen in a video. Sort of.
