Site funding problems...

Right. As some of you are no doubt aware, I've just been made redundant. What you might NOT be aware of is that I don't get any redundancy money and I don't get any notice either. Accordingly my income has just dropped catastrophically for this month (and will remain low until I get paid for another job).

Which means - again - that the site funding has become an issue again. Currently we're getting in about $55 a month from subscriptions, with a monthly bill of $130 (the high volume account on pair.com). In order for me to keep everything going and still be able to eat, I need a few small contributions towards the running of the site (again - paypal preferably - link on the front page of the site) or I need people who haven't currently got a subscription to get one.

Paypal have recently improved their service in the UK considerably, so it should be a hell of a lot easier to contribute cash from the UK now if you've had problems with them before... I'm also putting a UK-currency subscription option at the bottom of the underground's front page. All money - as usual - goes towards paying the bills and nothing else.

Er...can they do that? I was under the - possibly mistaken - impression that everybody working under a contract (unless it says otherwise in said contract of course) was entitled to at least a weeks notice and a weeks severance pay.

I never tend to look at things like that as definite 'bad' things - it may be losing this job that allows you to find the job you'll love. It's not a problem, it's an opportunity. But that's very easy for me to say, I suppose.

Thanks guys - this is a real help. The job situation is complicated, but basically I will get paid notice EVENTUALLY and not all of it. It's to do with the company not having enough money to pay all of its creditors (which I apparently now am)...
