As some of you are probably aware, I've been running an experimental live improv night for a while now, mainly at The Foundry in London. The idea is that we play a few live sets on synths and guitar, and we encourage people to come up and take over playing, make divine music or some stupid noise, whatever is most fun for them. We also DJ post-rock, Kid606-esque electronica, leftfield pop and noise between the live sets.
Check out I could do better than that.co.uk for more details and some photos.
So this is obviously a plug for all London Lithers to come down, have some beers and make some sounds.
But this is also a request for some help- I'm looking for any musician's collectives, any improv/ leftfield music mailing lists etc, who I could talk to to help spread the word. Any ideas? I've already contacted the LMC (London Musicians Collective, responsible for Resonance FM) and The Wire magazine...
Also, I'm very open to ideas as to things to do on our night- anyone want to juggle, do a bit of cabaret, beat poetry, anything a bit unusual?
Plus, if anyone can help us find some new venues, that'd be great. We can play the Foundry whenever, and we love it, but really we want to take the idea to somewhere the usual audience won't expect it- somewhere there might usually be an unapproachable DJ or pretentious band...
