For the new, yet-to-be-named disc by Frank Black and The Catholics (which even the guys at spinART label haven't heard yet), Black recruited a mixture of famous folks and regular ol' fans. [...]and legendary songwriter-producer Van Dyke Parks.

"He (Parks) played piano and accordion and did an arrangement for one of the songs, 'Manitoba,'" Black said. "It was stunning. Suddenly our song was a Burt Bacharach tune."

This sounds nifty to me. How's about you?

See, if only you can convince me that it'll make up for The Cult Of Ray, then you might have a buyer. As it stands, though...

New album, "Show Me Your Tears" is now out and on my CD player!

Rock!

From his record label

This will be the 6th release Frank Black and The Catholics have released on Sonic Unyon and the first since they did their first tour of Western Canada. Frank Black sold out every show he played in western Canada!!!....Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria...all sold out. Attendance was totalled almost 6,000 people. For those of you in Manitoba...take note track 13 is a song in honour of your province!

...Rothkoid: Check out his post-Cult of Ray stuff. I think even he acknowledges that that album blows, since he never plays it live. Try 'Black Letter Days' especially...
