I really liked a couple of songs off of the Beta Band's Three EPs, and I had heard that they were written by Lone Pigeon. So naturally I was interested, I got around to getting this last week and man is it good!
Reminds me of some of my favorite songs by the Beatles, some of my favorite folk artists, and it has some electronis experimentation on a recording I could have made! A lot of the album is pretty lo-fi, but it still sounds varied and interesting.

I realize its been out for a while and could possibly have been discussed, couldn't find anything though. So I imagine a lot of you are aware of him, any comments, opinions. Any of you up Scotland way seen him live?

I have an extremely dull conspiracy regarding the Beta Band that goes as follows:

It appears this Lone Pigeon dude was a member of the band when they were developing their early material, but by the time they got 'round to recording, he'd been institutionalised for some variety of serious mental problems and wasn't in the band anymore.

Now as any fool know, Beta Band early stuff = great. Rest of their output = rather uninteresting.

Thus it follows that possibly he's the creative genius one and should be listened to..

I've had a look around his site and the Fence Records site, and I'm getting excited about what looks to be a small collective of very interesting and creative people. I guess the guy who runs Fence is his brother and He performs under the name King Creosote. It looks like there might be some sort of miniature musical scene going on in Fife of all places. And the brilliance of the songs Dry the Rain and Dogs got a Bone is all over his album. Its like listening to John Lennon if all he had to record on was a eight track and a minidisc player.
