Bands you always wanted to see......

Danzig: He Pitys the Fool!

But for whatever reason they split up. I could think a near endless list of bands from the seventies and eighties, but for me personally, i was quite frankly distraught that i never got to see Kyuss. This was only magnified by the fact i really don't rate QOTSA.

So any performers/bands from any period in time you're sad you missed?

Are Kyuss and QOTSA related? I had no idea... QOTSA seem like less of a stoner band (in my very humble and ill-informed opinion), and I remember Kyuss saying that Jesus was a fan of theirs. But I don't read the musical press any more, so it's hardly surprising I know nowt.

Back on topic, I would have loved, loved to have seen Jeff Buckley live.

Those bald tall-head jazz cats from the bar on Tattooine.

Before they sold out.

At the Drive-In. But I was too busy not paying attention to the way the entire world was fawning over them, and didn't figure out that it was justified until far too late.

And, oh, sigh. The Replacements. I think I was too young, maybe. I forget when they broke up.

And the Pixies, of course.

And Throwing Muses back when Tanya Donnelly was always in the band, and not just for shows in major cities.

Less forcefully: Knapsack, Operation Ivy and Harvey Danger.

Stop laughing.

Rage against the Machine
It would have made my year to see them shortly after their first album.

You bet yer bum they're related. Josh Homme was the guitarist in Kyuss. Personally I preferred John Garcia's post Kyuss stuff like Slo-Burn and Unida. But hey, I didnt think QOTSA's first album was all too bad.

Thankfully I got to see RATM at their last appearance at the Reading Festival. To be fair, they weren't quite as good as i hoped. Unfortunately they will always be known as the band that said "FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!" On the flipside, i've also seen Audioslave. If ever a man was in the wrong band it is Chris Cornell. The guy loves the slow moody tunes, but put a bit of bounce in the a tune and you can see the panic on his face, as what to do next.

Capitalist Piglet

PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!

GAH! Piglet beat me to it. I would give my eye teeth to see the Floyd at the height of their power. I am currently working on a cabbage-powered time machine for just such an endeavour, but the less said on that the better...

I also wish I'd seen RATM, as well as Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Ideally all on the same stage. Doing Beatles covers.

The Return Of Rothkoid
23:12 / 30.04.03
Charles Mingus. And Scott Joplin. Together again!

My Bloody Valentine
At The Drive-In (had a ticket for the London show they never got to play!)
Husker Du
Jesus & Mary Chain in complete "fuck you" form

(this list's getting rather predictable isn't it?)

Teenage Jesus & The Jerks
Velvet Underground when John Cale was still in 'em
The Birthday Party
The Stooges
Bikini Kill
Crime

rizla mission
08:41 / 01.05.03
and of course - THE RAMONES!

Kamal Smith

I always used to say 'The Sex Pistols' as the answer to this question, thinking it would be impossible.

I actually went to see them when they reformed, expecting to be really disappointed, but they were great.

I saw The Ramones at their last ever UK gig. Glad I did, but I don't remember much of it, as I got extremely wasted.

(tinkers around in basement)

CK, give me a few more days. I've got the cabbage-to-voltage ratio worked out on my time machine, but so far all the test subjects melt on arrival.

Hmmm.... maybe it needs more tungsten. Or more caffeine. I'll go over my notes.

(continues tinkering)

The Falcon
16:05 / 02.05.03
Faith No More. I even had a ticket to see them supported by Kyuss, I might add, in Glasgow before Mike Patton decided he wanted to fanny about with his side-project Mr.Bungle, instead of touring.

The Smiths - got into them just a year or two too late...
