Nazi Coke Robots invade Hong Kong!

Depending on how you feel about the Coca-Cola Corporation this is either an amazingly stupid public relations cock-up or the true character of a fascistic corporate organisation being revealed.

Who will stop the march of the fascist mechanoid Coke army?

Probably a US Coca-Cola PR Executive in about 5 minutes...

Here's the full story:

Coca-Cola promotes drink with 'swastika' robots

Except the symbol of the swastika does have origins other than Nazism, too; depending on where the mould for the robot was made, it could be unintentional. I'm in no way apologist for Coke (or fucking Nazism, for that matter) but it could be an honest mistake.

Or they all could live in a vacuum. Pfft.

my inner jew is now in a strugle with my inner lover of coke products...

thank god they arent Nazi CHERRY Coke robots, or that would be the end of it for me and my beverage happiness...

I have a feeling the decision was based on the fact that there are more Buddhists in Hong Kong than there are Jews.

Like so, on a temple in Korea.

Or, from elsewhere on the same "I'm Not A Nazi" Swastika Gallery:

Maybe Coke is just remembering their 1920s watch-fob promotion.

Woah, that nearly goes alongside the fake puma blow-job ads, with the exception of this being real. Fair enough if it was an honest mistake. Though i have no sympathies for the coca cola empire, other than that coke is damn tasty.

Hehe!

You can imagine them in the studio, saying:

"Dude, is it to the left or to the right that good swastikas go?"

"Er, to the left, I think ... no, wait a minute, to the right."

"You sure?"

"Yeah. To the right. No. Oh, fuck it, the client'll pick it up if it's wrong."

As Grant said the reversed swastika is a buddhists peace symbol. I remember when I was in Hong Kong (many moons ago) I was really shocked to see swastikas on buildings. I thought there was some horrible nazi thing going on. I was wrong, of course.

I just think it makes the swastika more perverse. Its like an upside-down cross...

The fact that they're tilted doesn't help though... The good luck ones are always horizontal, non?

The way to remember, as I have learn it, is that if you are facing the end of a crosspiece and the arm goes to the right, it is for the right-wing Nazis and if it goes to the left, it's for the leftist peacenik buddhists.

How many people here hate the Coke empire but drink it all the same? Just out of curiosity, and as someone who pretty much only drinks fizzy shite.

Tho the new vanilla coke... eeeugh. Reminds me of when i was quite wee, i had vodka but didnt want it to be in a vodka bottle incase a parental unit looked thru my bag b4 i went out. So i put it in a vanilla musk body spray bottle that id washed out a zillion times. But it still tasted of it. The smell of vanilla coke brings it all horrible back.

The right-spurred swastika is also a buddhist symbol: different directions are used by different sub-groups, I think.

Well, I don't drink "Coke"... but I was drinking some yummy Odwalla carrot juice when I was informed that they sold out to Coca-Cola. I wrote a letter to Coke reading, "Fine, you win" and continue to drink carrot juice.

That reminds me of the time our school snack-bar boycotted Coca-Cola as part of some student protest and instead stocked up on Sprite.

...Which is made by Coke.

Come to think of it, Sprite may be a more sinister drink than Coke - 'Obey your thirst' is kind of brain-washy.

But the sprite in the ad is cute. I want one. I thought, however, that sprites were more like fairies than goblins. Anyone?

yeah, me too.

little cute things laeping about in a 'spritely' manner.

maybe like elves, at a push, but not goblins.

please explain. All we have over here are athlete endorsements for sprite commercials...

I've been trying to find a pic, but I guess my google-fu is not up to it. Basically, this bloke is in a takeaway, eating his kebab, and he says 'Can I have a Sprite, mate?' to the bloke serving. And what he gets is a cute green goblin thing with bum-fluff and a big toothy mouth...the bloke just sits and stares while the creature tries out a bit of chilli sauce and starts to rumble.

By "new" Coke, do you mean that watered-down stuff? Yeh, we get that in the UK too now.

It's pretty spectacularly bad, isn't it?

I thought it was a bit more Pepsi than Coke. You know; an EXTREME SPORTS KID looks into the void and thinks "I could SO carve on that shit..."
