i'd like some 'lithers opinions...
how late is late enough to tell the person you've been sleeping w/that yr period's late? or do you just skip to taking the test w/yr girlfriends around for moral support? or do you make him wait outside the bathroom door? does it make a difference if it's yr Boyfriend, or just Some Guy?
ladies, how long have you waited?
guys, any opinions on how long we should wait?

Take the test as soon as possible. Why on earth would you procrastinate on finding out if you were pregnant? Like now. Go to the store now, if you happen to talk to him on the way to or back from the store, tell him. Next time you see him just tell him A) you're pregnant or B) you're not but had to take the test to be sure and that perhaps you guys might try something safer so this scare doesn't happen again.

Yep. Take the test now, then start to agonise as appropriate.

just so's you know, i'm not late or anything. it's just something me and my girls were discussing recently, and i wondered what the people here thought.
you shouldn't take the test until yr ten days late, i think, for accuracy reasons. also, it depends cos some girls are way regular and some are quite irregular, so that would definitely vary the degree of concern.

PM, I don't know what sort of tests are available in the US, but in the UK, you can test from the day your period is due, as the pregnancy hormone hCG can be detected. If you're irregular, you can test from the period due date of your longest recent cycle.

of course, these decisions are personal, but my belief is that ultimately you're responsible for your own body and should just deal with it immediately and make decisions accordingly when you have some data. and after lots of years of telephone counselling "young people" (as they were ridiculously called by the agency I worked with), I know one thing for sure: pregnancy doesn't go away, but the longer you wait, your choices do.
