I just got a press alert (by fax, how passé) from Harrods.

Next Monday, the 28th April, the world's most expensive shoes will go on sale. They're ruby and platinum slippers and they cost £1,000,000.

"The bespoke shoes are woven from platinum thread and set with 642 round and oval rubies," it says here. But are they comfortable?

If anyone buys them (Anna, you seem the most likely candidate), please wear them to the next Barbemeet.

Maybe it's like Cinderella, there'll be queues of people trying them on and less-attractive sisters cutting off their big toes so their feet will fit.
